TRINITY WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

AUSTIN COLLEGE SCOUT

GENERAL THOUGHTS: AUSTIN COLLEGE is HUNGRY. Expect them to play Hard as a
unit for all 40 mins (Bench). Aside from Whitman, this will be our biggest challenge yet. We must
BOX OUT! Second chance opportunities are a killer. We must control the O-Boards, handle
business on the offensive end and play OUR game. Hands down we are the better team, but we
must show up and compete like we are the better TEAM. They may be hungry but we’re starving,
so LET’S EAT!!

PERSONNEL

*#22 BRYCE FRANK 6’2 JR F GREAT FT

Big as shit (Coach Cam’s words). Great free-throw shooter. Great finisher around
the rim. Does a good job of seeing the open teammate when being doubled. Runs
the floor well. Big body but not looking to block shots. Attack her and go up
confidently strong. Front in transition, then play her ¾. Be physical with her
without fouling. Box out.

*#3 ANN SAVAGE 5’7 JR G GREAT FT

“Savage” player. Plays hard and smart. Pretty good hop and catch shooter but will
put it on the floor and attack the basket. Looks to tip to her in the beginning tip
for an easy basket. Great free-throw shooter. Limit her wide-open shots. Defend
with a high hand to contest. Keep her in front of you. Likes to get hands in the
passing lanes so protect the ball. Box out.

*#2 MEGHAN LEWIS 5’7 SR G GOOD FT

Physical and scrappy guard. Sneaky defender. Tends to leave her man and back
tap for steals for an easy basket. She can put the ball on the floor as well as knock
down open shots so keep a hand in her face. When she does put the ball on the
floor, keep her in front and stay down on defense. Look to take charges against
her driving in the lane. She crashes the O-Boards hard. We have to know where
she is and put a body on her when the shot goes up. Box out.

*#12 ADDISON WALLING 5’8 FR G POOR FT

She is very active around the perimeter looking to launch it. She’s good at finding
open gaps in the defense and staying shot ready. They look for her off the drive
and kick to her to knock it down when the help defender collapses. Keep a hand
in her face and make her shoot over you! She isn’t as effective if you make her put
the ball on the floor so be there on the catch and make her put the ball on the
floor. Looks to back cut so be aware. Box out.

*#24 ALLY LONGAKER 6’0 JR F GOOD FT

Good sized, tall and lanky guard who shoots with confidence. Keep a hand in her
face and don’t let her get comfortable and in a rhythm. She’s a spot up shooter
who likes the corner mid-range jumper. Limit her wide-open shots. Gets out to
run in transition and spreads the floor well. Looks to back cut so be aware. She
isn’t as effective if you make her put the ball on the floor. Box out.

#11 CAITYLN COLLINS 5’9 JR G AVERAGE FT

LEFTY. Force her to finish plays with her right hand. She will put the ball on the
floor and take it coast to coast. Be sure to stop the ball early. She does a good job
at cutting to the basket and creating open looks for easy lay ups. We have to
bump/tag cutters, not allowing easy cuts to the basket. She isn’t really looking to
shoot the ball but to put the ball on the floor and draw contact at the rim. She will
act like she is going to shoot it and then drive to her LEFT. She can shoot the ball
though and isn’t afraid to pull from 3. Play her for the drive but keep a hand up.
Look to take charges against her driving in the lane. Did I mention she is LEFT
handed?

#5 KENDRA RAINEY 5’10 SR F GOOD FT

She’s a Driver. She uses a pump fake to create separation to set up her drive to
the basket. Stay down on defense with a hand up. She has good balance and touch
around the rim. She is looking to get to the basket but does have 3-point range.
Play her for the drive but keep a hand up. Box out.

#14 KACIE WEST 5’7 FR G GREAT FT

Runs the floor well looking to spot up for a shot any chance she can get. If her
shot isn’t there, pump faking and driving to her left side is her go to move or she
will just kick it. She stays shot ready so don’t sleep on her after she passes it,
chances are she may be getting it back and launching it. Active hands defender.
Box out.

#20 REAGAN CHIVAERINI 5’10 FR G GOOD FT

LEFTY. Has a jerky shot. 3-point shooter looking to get it up. She will shoot in
your face if your hands are not up. Hand down, Man down philosophy. She will
put the ball on the floor most likely driving hard to her LEFT. She isn’t the fastest
of the bunch, but she makes up for that by trailing and knocking down the 3. A
hand needs to be up in her face. Force her to shoot it over you. Did I mention
she’s LEFT handed? Box out.

OFFENSIVE TENDENCIES:
They run the floor well and have good spacing looking up the court. They tend to
shoot early in the shot clock but when time is winding down they look for Bryce
Taylor. Taylor is Big in the post and uses her size to her advantage but DON’ T
SLEEP on the others. They have solid guards that can shoot and CRASH the
offensive Boards Hard. Guards have to pressure the ball and post defenders need
to be physical without fouling. Go over screens with a hand up to contest, guards
can shoot. Overall, we must be defensively sound as a unit. Make them EARN
every point all 40 mins.

DEFENSIVE TENDENCIES:
They do a good job of taking away driving angles, and play a lot of man to man.
They will switch guard to guard if necessary. They tend to try and go for quick
traps, bringing the middle guard over to trap and eliminating the reversal pass
back. We must attack the weaker defender and kick it up. Look for the diagonal
pass when they do this. They are trying to get you to play faster than you want.
Play our game. Take what the defensive gives you. They are active and play in the
passing lanes. Taylor is big as shit but don’t be afraid to go at her. She’s a big
body but not looking to block shots. Limit them to one and done.

GAME PLAN:
We will start out in Man – But will adjust, playing a little of everything. Make
them work against our defense and play a full shot clock. Be aggressive
offensively and move the ball. Make the defense work. Do not give up second
chance opportunities. Execute offensively, whether in our half court sets or
in transition. Play with Confidence. Play with Heart. Play TOGETHER. WE
ARE THE BETTER TEAM. PLAY LIKE IT.
