Final Inquiry Proposal

Part A: “LIO”

1. “Why do middle-class Americans dogmatically comply with societal norms to achieve

intrapersonal bliss, and how might integration of other cultures affect Americans

psychologically?”

Part B: Ten questions of exploration:

1. How were present day ideals standards/norms founded in the Western Culture (America

specifically)?

2. How are standards broadcasted to Americans and why are they received with such

influence within middle-class citizens?

3. What methods are used to aid compliancy of societal norms to middle-class Americans?

4. What kind of psychological effects result from extreme pressure or failure to properly

integrate into American society?

5. What fundamental flaws exist in the Western or Americanized methodology of achieving

intrapersonal bliss?

6. How do the ideals differ between Western and Eastern culture of intrapersonal bliss (ex.

Medicine, religion, education)?

7. How does Eastern culture approach intrapersonal bliss?

8. How can we as Americans benefit from adopting Eastern ideals of intrapersonal

psychology?
9. What bottlenecks would middle-class Americans face when originally adopting Eastern

ideals of intrapersonal psychology?

10. What potential affects would intrapersonal bliss within the middle-class have on

America?

Part C: Addressing Motivation

This topic is important to consider by everyone who suffers from intrapersonal

phycological conflict. It may offer insight into resolving internal conflict within one’s self, thus

aiding ease of integration into social environments. My motivation to depict this topic is due to

optimism and curiosity. I often find myself psychoanalyzing individuals with difficulties of

social interaction; I believe this lack of ability to communicate is largely attributed to internal

turmoil. Thus, sparking the basis of my inquiry proposal into the mind of the average American,

and their ability to adapt socially based upon their phycological state. The purpose of my

investigation would be to better understand cultures and their values regarding lifestyle.

Part D: Two groups of people who cares

1. Phycologists- Phycologists could use the proposed concepts to broaden their knowledge of

therapeutic practices. They would be able to offer specialized treatment for patients after

traumatic experiences. This would be best introduced into the field through a phycology journal,

explaining standardized method of patient interaction.

2. Politicians- Politicians could benefit in areas of foreign affairs or increase of citizen quality of

life. It would expand their supporters by attracting emotional backing and demographic appeal.

This would be best exposed to politicians through seminars, explaining the basis of the concept
on a fundamental level. Once explained, the politician can manipulate the concepts to centralize

his/her party’s beliefs.

Part E: Preliminary sources

Sources which offer value to my research may include: Peer-reviewed journals; Government

released accounts of Phycological evaluations, and Middleton Library’s research databases.

Part F: Potential challenges

The potential challenges I face when discussing my topic are my biases towards

American standards of living. To accurately portray another culture and its tendencies, I must

detach myself from any nationality engraved biases. Once I have researched enough material and

studied any similar situations in history, I can reasonably state an assumption upon the result of

meshing Western and Eastern values.
