LESSON PLAN IN ENGLISH

Teaching Demonstration

Content Standard: The learner demonstrates understanding of how Anglo-American


literature and other text types serve as means of enhancing the self;
also how to use processing, assessing, summarizing information,
word derivation and formation strategies, appropriate word order,
punctuation marks and interjections to enable him/her to participate
actively in a speech choir.

Performance standard: The learner actively participates in a speech choir through using
effective verbal and non-verbal strategies based on the following
criteria: Focus, Voice, Delivery, Facial Expressions, Body
Movements/ Gestures and Audience Contact.

I. Objectives

At the end of the lesson, students are expected to:


a. Use appropriate punctuation marks in sentences.
b. Construct and write sentences using the different punctuation marks.
c. Read sentences correctly and clearly with expressions.
d. Show teamwork and cooperation through participating in a group
activity.

II. Subject Matter

Topic: Proper Use of Punctuation Marks (EN9G-Ia-1.6/1.7)

Reference: English for Global communication and internet

Materials: Cut-outs, pictures, paper strips and flash cards

III. Procedure

Activities

1. Greetings
2. Class prayer
3. Checking of attendance
4. Review of the past lesson
(The teacher will call student/s to recap the past lesson).
Motivation

Group activity:

The students will be divided into four; each group will be given
an envelope with words inside. They will be asked to arrange the words
in order to make a sentence. One representative from each group will
read the sentence with expressions.

1. Philippines is rich in natural resources.


2. Where did you go last summer?
3. I can’t believe it! We won!
4. My mom loves cooking, gardening and painting.

Analysis

1. Unlocking new difficult words.

2. Let the students read a short story entitled “Sweetie and The Star.”
3. While reading, ask some questions about the story read to monitor
their comprehension.
4. After reading, let the students carefully examined the sentences
used in the story.
5. Let them identify the different sentences and what punctuation
marks are used.
6. Let the students share their ideas why these punctuation marks are
use in the sentences.

Abstraction

1. The students will give their own examples (sentences) using the
different kinds of punctuation marks they learned.
2. The teacher will post on the board some pictures and the students
will construct sentences using the different punctuation marks.

Assessment

1. Divide the class into three groups. The leaders will pick a name of
the character in the story to be drawn inside the box provided by the
teacher.
2. The students will make a graphic organizer. They will write three
sentences with the proper use of punctuation marks based on the
pictures/characters selected.
3. Each group will present their work.
A. Assignment

Cut out a picture and write three sentences with the proper use of
punctuation marks.
