Resources
 September is Recovery Month… The Recovery Month 2010 toolkit includes printed materials to
support event organizers in their planning and outreach to local leaders and community audiences. This
FREE toolkit changes each year based on the Recovery Month theme. This year’s theme is Join the Voices
for Recovery: Now, More Than Ever! It addresses how stress and other external circumstances can
contribute to the onset and relapse of substance use disorders and highlights specific groups affected by
these stressors. Lots of great handouts! Check it out: www.recoverymonth.gov.

 CASA Family Day, September 27th… Whether you’re cooking a gourmet meal, ordering food from
your favorite take-out place or eating on the go, rest assured that what your kids really want during
dinnertime is YOU! Family meals are the perfect time to talk to your kids and to listen to what’s on their
mind. The more often kids eat dinner with their families; the less likely they are to smoke, drink or use
drugs. Check it out: http://www.casafamilyday.org/familyday.

 Preventing Drug Use Among Children & Adolescents: A Research-Based Guide… This
second edition of the “Red Book,” derived from research on effective prevention programs, includes
information about key factors that place youth at risk for drug abuse, guidance for planning drug abuse
prevention programs in the community, the application of prevention principles to programs and
descriptions of the core elements of effective prevention programs. The book is FREE of charge! Check it
out: www.jointogether.org/resources/2003/preventing-drug-use.html.

 Meth Resources… MethResources.gov serves as a tool for policymakers, law enforcement officials,
treatment and prevention professionals, retailers and anti-drug leaders. Among the features of this website
is the DiscussMeth listserv which promotes and encourages the exchange of information, ideas and support
to communities experiencing the devastating effects of meth production and use. Check it out:
