important fashion fair in Italy. During last edition 710 exhibitors were at the
Fortezza da Basso showing 897 collections. The atmosphere you did
breathe was like a creativity factory, innovation and research were in the
foreground. A place where you can make direct contacts with fashion
designers and creatives from all over the world. You breathe fashion every-
where in Florence during Pitti , the whole city sustains fashion-related
events outside the Fortezza.
Suomy was there with its own sportswear collection.
A collection inspired to the motorcycle world, the details show the ergonomic
cuts, reinforced parts, pockets, silver and black net inserts, reflecting

SUOMY EVENTS WITH RIDERS

The Events organized all over Europe and particularly in Italy had great results in term of public participation.
The Suomy Global Points had the great chance to have some of the most important protagonists of the 2-wheel
world in their shops.
Loris Capirossi, James Toseland, Troy Bayliss, Max Biaggi, Lorenzo Lanzi were guests and stars of the events,
they did not only sign autographs but sometimes they made something different as James Toseland did: he ama-
zed all the present people playing the piano and singing few songs in a mini performance. Toseland got skills.

ALVARO BAUTISTA
Suomy signed a sponsorship
agreement with the Spanish rider
Alvaro Bautista that will wear a
Suomy helmet during next season.
125cc World Champion in 2006,
Bautista moved to 250cc Aprilia
Aspar Team in 2007 where he did

Born in 1984 at T alavera de la

fans, he is firmly convinced that

RAINBOW TEAM
A rainbow whizzes quickly the water.
The Rainbow Team is one of the team that
boats the best results in the Formula 1 Innshore.
The Team is at Casale Monferrato (Italy) very
close to Suomy plant, in a modern facility
located on the Po river where the staf f can
make tests and prepare the racers. The team
leader and Suomy racer is Fabrizio Bocca.
In the 2007 season drivers Fabrizio Bocca
and Valerio Lagiannella contended good F1
competitions both in Portugal and France,
collecting important points for final results.
Both drivers participate to the competitions
of China, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates
carried out in October , November and
December.
The Rainbow Team participates also to the
F2 Championship with the driver Daniele
Martignoni. The Team and Martignoni dispu-
ted and they are disputing extraordinary
competitions.

TECHNICAL COURSES
AT CONIOLO PLANT
Coniolo (Italy).
To better support dealers and
Global Points, Suomy organized
special courses to improve their
knowledge about the products.
People attending these courses were
coming from different town of Europe.
The courses were held inside the
laboratory that Suomy has in Coniolo
plant.
The participants did have the
chance to visit the plant, to see how
a fibreglass helmets is made and to
assist with some crash tests that we
conduct to pass homologations.
They also worked on the products.
They disassembled and assembled
different kind of helmets. They were
taught about helmet maintenance
and how to insure a better service
to the final customers.
A positive experience, that probably
will be repeated in the near future.

It was a moment full of high spirits for our company when Suomy brand was born,
ten years ago.
In spite of what all the other European helmets manufacturers did in that period, they cut
prices, Suomy realized a product addressed to “hard to please” people, sporting and
sought-after at the same time, a product for good judge of helmets.
The sporting DNA is a feature of the team work.
The research of the best materials, lightness and comfort were at the bottom of the first
project.
The staff spent time to find out how to obtain a top product, with the consciousness
that the goal was producing few helmets for riders , customizing them with extreme
graphics.

Ten years ago helmet graphics were more simple than now.

Suomy graphics became a new way to paint helmets, Suomy became a “new style”.

Suomy was able to realize small series of helmets that nobody was able to do before,
except few good spray-gun guys!

The request became greater day after day, therefore the decision to start a real production
without loosing the essence that you can find inside each Suomy helmet.

Since 1998 when Suomy made its debut in road racing, it

understood the appeal of this growing championship and decided

success of the World Superbike Championship put Suomy on

The 2007 SBK season was a fantastic season. If the year before
Suomy and Troy Bayliss gained the World Championship 2 races in
advance, in 2007 the fight was “at the last race” at Magny Cours.
Suomy SBK protagonists : Troy Bayliss, Max Biaggi, Michel Fabrizio,
Lorenzo Lanzi, Steve Martin and James Toseland.
Since the first race in Qatar Suomy had a real exciting start of
season in the Superbike! Three places on the podium , three hel-
mets Suomy in race 1 with Biaggi, Toseland and Lanzi. In race 2
Suomy gain the first and second place with Toseland and Biaggi.
Not bad!

In Australia for the 2nd round, Bayliss and Toseland share Phillip
Island wins.
Brilliant races wow record crowds Phillip Island provided the perfect
backdrop for two of the best Superbike races ever witnessed at the
classic track, with Troy Bayliss winning the first from JamesToseland
then Toseland took the second race win from Bayliss. Up to five riders
were involved in the fight for podium places, with each race coming
down to a man-to-man fight over the last few laps.Toseland leads the
championship by 16 points, 90-74, over Max Biaggi .
Suomy has 3 riders in the first three places after two races of the
SBK Championship!!

Donington: what a race!

Bayliss crashes out of Donington Superbike race 1 and injures right
hand. Toseland wins race 1 but he brokes engine in race 2 when
leading… Max twice on podium!

Xaus and Toseland share Valencia wins.

Toseland and Bayliss share wins after dazzling Assen races with a
third place in race 2 gained by Max Biaggi .

Monza races: Championship leader James Toseland extends his

championship lead to 35 points, despite scoring only a fourth after a
bad tyre choice in race one, and a hard-won second spot in race two.
For Monza race Suomy realizes two special helmets worn by the
world SBK champion Troy Bayliss and by the actual leader of SBK
championship James Toseland.
Bayliss helmet was a modified version of his usual helmet, golden
and glittered with the Italian flag colours in honour of the first Italian
race of SBK.
Toseland helmet was a tribute to Pierfrancesco Chili, “Giacomino” ‘s
mentor since his start in Superbike, with the tiger printed on it.
A tribute to a great racer , retired after a great career and to whom
James gave his helmet for present after the race.

Brno:
Two races ruled by Suomy riders! Max Biaggi and James Toseland
shared wins in both races and Michel Fabrizio, in race 2 , gave to
Suomy the full podium!

Brands Hatch:
Toseland sets personal bests and edges ahead again - local rider
double sends 126,000 strong crowd wild. After the wettest summer
ever in the UK, the local British crowd got to worship their latest local
sun god in perfect conditions at Brands Hatch, as James Toseland
basked in the glow of his first ever W orld Superbike double win,
scored his first ever wins at Brands Hatch, and took a huge 66 point
lead into the final three rounds, which appear after the traditional
summer break.

Lausitz:
Bayliss falls but secures a front row start. Troy Bayliss was third
quickest in the session despite falling and also running onto the
gravel at a later stage.

Vallelunga:
Biaggi and Bayliss share wins in Rome as Toseland loses ground.
Suomy prepared a special helmet for Max, the local hero!

Magny Cours:
ENGLISHMAN CROWNED FOR THE SECOND TIME AS SUOMY
RIDER (2004-2007) , 5TH WORLD TITLE FOR SUOMY!
James Toseland secured the 2007 World Championship by a scant
two points after another luckless race day threatened to rob him of
his hard won championship at one stage.
Toseland did wear a dif ferent helmet during the races. He asked
Suomy to arrange a helmet with the same graphics that his manager
Roger did wear 20 years ago… just a way to say thank you to his
manager.
On the podium he did bring the Suomy SBK Limited Edition helmet
where there are printed the most relevant images of the 2007
Toseland SBK season.

Your first bike?
At what age you got it?
JT: Nine years old and it was a
TY80 Yamaha Trials bike.
Your professional choice influenced
your private life?
JT: To race at this level takes 100%
commitment to the job – your private
life has to come second to racing.
Luckily, I have a very close group
of friends and family and they
completely understand my professional
commitments. They come to the
races and when I am at home I
spend as much time with them as
possible.
Describe what you normally do
during the day of race
JT: I get up around 8am and prepare
my breakfast.
I always have porridge because it
releases energy slowly and keeps
me going all morning. The warm-up
session is at 9.20am for 20 minutes.
I then go back to the motorhome for
a quick shower , a cup of cof fee
and a banana before the pit lane
walkabout. Then it’s back into my
leathers ready for race one.
Depending on the result of the race,
I either go to the podium and press
conference or straight back to the
garage to meet with the mechanics.
I then have another shower and eat
lunch, which is always pasta. I then
prepare myself mentally for race
two, go out on track and hopefully
come home with a few trophies!
C O M P E T I T I O N S
Which kind of training you have
during the championship?
JT: I do a little bit of everything:
running, cycling, rowing, cross training.
I like to change my routine to keep
things interesting. I am lucky in that no changes were ever needed.
I really enjoy training so it’ s not too
much of a problem for me. What do you like of your helmet

Do you have a personal diet? JT: My own personal design – it is

MOTO GP
If Suomy was blessed in the Superbike Championship winning the World title, it was less lucky in the

MotoGP during 2007 season.

MotoGP protagonists were Loris Capirossi, Jeremy McWilliams and Alex Hofmann .

Jeremy had to give up after few races because of Ilmor team trouble andAlex Hofmann had few problems

with his team at the end of season too.

Loris Capirossi made a welcome return to the podium in Turkey. New dad Capirossi was in good spirit after he
secured third place just after Elias and his team-mate Casey Stoner.
A brilliant second place for Suomy was acquired in Germany , where Loris gained the podium choosing the right
tyres! .
To be ironic towards people who considers him “old rider” he decided to wear a special Suomy helmet for Misano
race, with two dinosaurs drawn on it and an unequivocal inscription on the back: “Aged racer DOC 100%”

It was a matter of tyres also in the Japanese Grand Prix where Loris scored great Motegi win, and Casey Stoner
the 2007 World Championship.
During an interview after Motegi race Loris Capirossi said:

" When I woke this morning and saw the rain I said 'wow, for sure this is going to be a difficult day'. We didn't know
which would be the best tyres to use, so we started with medium rain tyres. At first it was really difficult, so I deci-
ded to pit early, and for sure my tactic was the best because I won my third consecutive race here, it's a great mo-
ment for me. It's also a great day for Casey, for Ducati and for the team. I congratulate Casey, he's a really strong
rider, I'm very happy for him."

LORIS CAPIROSSI

Your first bike?
At what age you got it?
LC: I was 12 and it was a bike made
by my father.
Your professional choice influenced
your private life?
LC: I’m a lucky man because I have
a job that I really like, a wonderful
wife and a beautiful family. I’m really
satisfied.
Describe what you normally do
during the day of race
LC: I get up early around 7.30 and
have my breakfast. I talk to the
engineers and technicians and then
warm-up session. After that, I go to
the motorhome and I watch on TV
the 125cc start and all the other
races. Relax a little bit and then into
my leathers for the race.
Which kind of training you have
during the championship?
LC: I really do a lot of exercises . My

LC: I like to spend time with my

too important in my job and I always

LC: Safety. When I ride both dry or
wet races, particularly when it rains

frequently drive Umberto (ndr .
Monti) crazy… but I have a friendly
relationship with him…. On the back
side of the helmet there is “Capirex”
sign and the drawing of a baby that,
of course, has a particular meaning
in this period of my life.

LC: A new challenge riding a Suzuki.
I’m really satisfied about its technical
performances and my plan is to win
the World Championship next
year… probably my last championship.

Two Spanish riders for Suomy in 125 cc Championship: Hector Faubel and Sergio Gadea.

Mates at the Aprilia Aspar Team, they both are young and determined.

2007 proved to be a spectacular season where Suomy riders scored great results!

An excellent season that see Faubel -10 points from Talmacsi, one race before the end of the 125 cc

After the Japanese race, Faubel said: “ A nine point difference is not much. It was a hard race, at the beginning I
was following the other two and then I crashed in the chicane. Fortunately I got back on the pace again and made
it to the finish. In this condition getting on the podium is great!”

This catalogue goes to press before the end of the Championship, all in Suomy are crossing fingers and hope …
for another crown.
But no matter how it goes, Suomy wishes to thank the two young Spanish riders who gave us thrilling duels and
amazing racing during all 2007 season.

HF: It was a cross bike FITE 50 and
I was 5 years old
Your professional choice influen-
ced your private life?
HF: I don’t think so, I’m the same
Hector as ever. People recognise
me and ask for autographs and
photos, I like it.
Describe what you normally do
during the day of race.
HF: I wake up and I have a healthful
breakfast. I go to the box to work on
the bike. After the warm up or race I
have meeting with mechanics to talk
about what it’ s good or what we
have to change on the bike. Then I
go to doctor Costa mobile clinic for a
massage. Back to the Hotel for a
shower, dinner and a good film that
help me to relax and to sleep well.
Which kind of training you have
during the championship?
HF: Every day with a coach.
Three days a week mountain bike,
gym and motorcycle.
Do you have a personal diet?
Which is your favourite dish?
HF: A good balance diet, I eat fresh
fruit, meat and pasta. My favourite
dish is “paella valenciana”.

when you are not racing?
HF: When I’m not racing, I really like
to go to the mountains , watching

RETENTION SYSTEM
The “D ring” is generally acknowledged
as the safest and more reliable
retention system.
No hidden mechanism and an
extremely simple construction

impact it's forward moment may
stop instantly. However, the rider's

travel through this padding prior to

and start the deceleration process.

How to get maximum performance

from your Suomy helmet
GENERAL PRESCRIPTIONS

For maximum safety, your helmet must fit tightly and be correctly and securely fastened, so it cannot be taken off
neither by pulling it nor by rotating it around the head when chin strap is correctly closed. Before purchasing po-
sition the helmet on your head and check fitting as described: even with smooth movements of the head the hel-
met must not rotate or slide down reducing sight field.
If this happens readjust retention system an try again; if the retention system does not work correctly and
after repeating the test you are not able to efficiently tighten the retention system and/or the fitting on your
head is not comfortable do not purchase this helmet.
To solve this problem many SUOMY HELMETS are equipped with CUSTOMIZED Inner Liner: deetachable cheek
pads and interiors are available in different thicknesses to customize helmet fit accordingly to your head thus achie-
ving the most comfortable feeling together with improved safety performances.

Do not use scarves or neck guards which could make the strap slide and the helmet fly off in case of crash.

All Suomy helmets have been designed to be used with most of the eyeglasses on the market; in any case check
how the helmet fits with your glasses before purchasing it.

No helmet can protect the head against the forces generated by any type of crash.
The integrity of the shell and of the inside are essential to assure maximum performances in terms of safety.
Each helmet is developed and studied to absorb crashes through a partial destruction of the shell or some of its
parts that could be damaged after a crash even if it is not readily visibly. If the helmet suffers further stress it might
not be able to offer the maximum level of protection.
Do not use a helmet that suffered severe blows even though the damage is not readily visible; if the
helmet is damaged it must be replaced.

It is extremely dangerous to modify the helmet by sticking or gluing anything on it. Do not cut or punch the helmet’

shell, do not insert screws or paint it.

Do not change the internal lining of the helmet, particularly never cut or change the inside polystyrene padding:
changes to the shape of the internal polystyrene shell can affect the safety features of the helmet.

Damaged visors may limit visibility especially at night and must be immediately replaced.
The use of some visors is allowed only on closed tracks; please refer to application list for detailed prescriptions.
Colored visors must not be used at night and in any case with poor visibility conditions: please refer to application
list to.
Do not apply paint and/or adhesives on the visor.

MAINTENANCE AND SPARE PARTS REPLACEMENT

Before starting maintenance or replacement operations read accurately the instruction manual supplied with the
helmet: take your time to understand maintenance operations.
SUOMY helmets have been designed to let each customer operate on his helmet with extremely simple operations
and without using particular tools; in any case only the full respect of the correct maintenance procedure will grant
no damage to helmet components and maximum reliability and safety.
In case of trouble do not force to remove or replace parts of your helmet: please apply to your official Suomy Dea-
ler who is trained to help you in setting your helmet for maximum performance, fit and comfort.

RETENTION SYSTEM
The retention system (D-RING or QUICK
RELEASE) can change according to the
countries in which the helmet is marketed in
relation to the particular certification standards.
D-RING Retention System
Insert the free end of the strap in the rings.
Pull until the strap fits tightly around the jaw.
After doing this, it should be impossible to
slide out the helmet; verify that, by taking it
from the back edge and rotating it towards
the front, the helmet cannot be removed and
that it remains well fixed on your head. If the
helmet tends to come of f or it moves freely
on the head, pull the strap tight until the right
pressure is reached and repeat test.
If the retention system does not work
correctly and after repeating the test you
are not able to efficiently tighten the
retention system, do not use the helmet.
The only function of the press stud fitted on
the chin strap is to avoid fluttering of the end
part while riding.
The fact the press stud is fastened is no
guarantee that the helmet has been
positioned and closed correctly: the correct
fastening of the strap must be verified
exclusively through the operations
described in the previous paragraphs.
Use the unlocking tongue only to remove the
helmet! Never unlock the retention system
while riding.
QUICK RELEASE
Adjust the length of the strap making the
tongue slide into the buckle so that, when the
helmet is fastened, the strap presses close
against the jaw and there are the following
conditions:
- the helmet can no longer be taken off
- by pulling the helmet from the back and
rotating it towards the front, the helmet cannot
be removed and it remains well fixed on your
head.
If the helmet tends to slide of f or rotates
freely on the head, adjust the strap again
until the right pressure is obtained and repeat
the test.
If the retention system does not work
correctly and after repeating the test you
are not able to efficiently tighten the
retention system, do not use the helmet.
After adjusting the length of the strap make
sure the end part of the strap is correctly
positioned in the adjustment buckle.
Use the red unlocking button only to
remove the helmet! Never unlock the
retention system while riding.
REMOVABLE INNER PADDINGS
Before removing the inner padding be sure
that all the fixing devices (Snap Buttons or
Velcro® Systems - see Owner’s Manual) are
completely unlocked: if these conditions are
verified the internal padding can be very
easily removed from the helmet.
If not so (strong force is nedded to remove
the part), stop operation to avoid damage to
the inner lining and verify again if all fixing
devices are completely unlocked.
After replacement make sure that the inner
padding fits correctly inside the polystyrene
liner and that all the fixing devices are cor-
rectly locked.
INTERNAL LATERAL PADDING
If you are operating for the first time on cheek
pads we strongly recommend to operate on
only one of them at a time; in this way the
opposite cheek pad (which has been correctly
fitted in production) can be used as a
reference to verify the correct positioning
and adjustment of the refitted part.
Before removing the inner padding be sure
that all the fixing devices (Fixing Mechanism,
Snap Buttons or Velcro® Systems - see Owne-
r’s Manual) are completely unlocked: if these
conditions are verified the internal padding
can be very easily removed from the helmet.
After replacement always check that the
assembly procedure has been performed
properly by ensuring:
- that the cheek pad is securely fixed in
position
- that the chinstrap moves freely and that it
has not remained compressed under the
cheek pad during the assembly procedure.
Efficiency of the retaining system is assured
only if the cheek pad is correctly secured and
the chinstrap is correctly positioned.
When the installation operation is
complete wear the helmet to check the
retention system: if you are not able to
efficiently tighten the retention system
(see Retention System paragraph), do not
use the helmet.
VISOR and VISOR MECHANISM
The visor must be checked and cleaned pe-
riodically. The presence of dirt and/or deep
scratches on the surface of the visor may re-
sult in anomalous glare or optical effects that
impair the safety of your riding: in this case
the visor must be replaced immediately.
OPENING, CLOSING AND HANDLING VISOR
The visor must be opened and closed
exclusively by means of lifting lever. Do not
attempt to open or close the visor from other
positions or accidental damage (scratches or
scoring) may be caused and the field of
vision may be impaired.
For the same reason during maintenance
operations the visor must be held only on the edges.
REPLACEMENT OF VISOR AND VISOR
MECHANISM
Visor and V isor mechanism are expecially
designed for a particular helmet model:
please refer to Spare Parts Application List
to find the correct spare parts for your helmet.
Always refer to Owner ’s Manual for replace-
ment procedure.
To ensure smooth operation of the visor
rotation system, before replacing or installinga
new visor ensure that all the parts (pins and
relative seats on the helmet, locking rings
and accessories, surfaces of the visor in
contact with moving parts) are perfectly clean.
After visor and or V isor Mechanism
replacement check the visor is secu rely
attached to the helmet, that it is free to ro-
tate, and that it can be locked securely in
the locking positions.
If these conditions are not complied with
and if the visor rotation mechanism fails
to function correctly: do not use the helmet.
ADJUSTING
If you notice increasement of noise, water
and/or air infiltration along the edges of the
visor in its fully closed position the fitment of
the visor or of the visor mechanism must be
checked; this may occur after replacing the
visor or after prolonged use of the helmet
Instructions for adjusting procedure can
be found in your Onwer ’s Manual, but
adjustment of the visor and of the visor
mechanism can be a critical operation if
done by non skilled personnel.
Your Suomy Dealer is trained to do this
operation in order to grant maximum
performance and reliability.
