Oral Communication in Context

I. OBJECTIVE
CONTENT STANDARD
The learner understands the nature and elements of oral communication in context.

PERFORMANCE STANDARD:
The learner designs and performs effective controlled and uncontrolled oral communication activities based on
context.

LEARNING COMPETENCIES
Distinguishes the unique feature(s) of one communication process from the other.

OBJECTIVE
1. Differentiate speeches in passive and active voices.
2. Use passive and active sentences appropriately in oral communication.

III. PROCEDURES
Activate
1. Ask students to give short and simple introduction.
2. Ask students what they did in the morning.
Acquire
1. Identify passive from active sentences and discuss when to use passive and active voices in communication.
2. Explain the difference in structure between active and passive voices.
Apply
1. Ask students questions they can either answer in passive or active sentences.
Assess
1. Give active sentences and ask students to transform them into passive.

IV. EVALUATION
1. Identify the voice of each sentence and transform them to the opposite voice. (1-5)
2. Give a sentence for each situation using the right voice (1-2).

V. ASSIGNMENT:
Write a 2-paragraph speech containing passive and active sentences and deliver it in the class. The speech should
contain the importance of family values.
