PHILOSOPHY

This course will focus on the basics of computers, software and applications relevant to the nursing
practice.
This course will furthermore deal with the use of information and technology systems and data standards. It
explains the importance of nursing informatics to nursing practice.
C OURSE G OALS
At the end of the course, the students will be able to:
Explain the nature and history of nursing informatics and its influence in today’s practice.
Appreciate the roles, functions, scope and limitations of practice in nursing informatics.
Understand the relationship of the roles, functions, scope and limitations of practice with other disciplines.
Learn on how to integrate theory and related nursing experiences in a meaningful learning environment.
C OURSE REQUIREMENTS

The student’s main responsibility is to:
Participate actively in the group work and discussions.
Submit 1 journal per week on any topic related to nursing informatics.
o Must be research-based
o Give Summary & Reaction on 5x8 index card.
o Summary & Reaction must be handwritten.
Accomplish and submit all exercises on the workbook.
Pass all the seatwork, quizzes, and examinations as scheduled.
PROJECT:
1. Instructional Videos on selected basic nursing skills.
2. Create fillable PDF forms using Adobe Livecycle Designer.
3. Portfolio of current technologies in healthcare anywhere around the world.
