Inspiration for our design concept material

''Timber has no disadvantages, only design challenges.'' (Timber Development

Association)

The properties for timber are well known which makes it a predictable material, easy
to adapt and use in various conditions. It also offers design flexibility, creating more
options without sacrificing structural requirements. It is aesthetically pleasing, but
still a sturdy and practical material.

It can be creative as in the ''Metropol Parasol'' in Seville, Spain or serviceable as the

''Treet'' (''The Tree'') in Norway.

The ''Metropol Parasol'' is one of the largest timber structures ever built. It has been
constructed from a micro-laminated wood called Kerto and it consists of 3mm thick
veneers glued together. This gives the structure a higher sheer strength than solid
wood.

The ''Treet'' is in its own way very impressing. Standing at 49 m tall it is one of the
tallest timber framed structures ever built. The engineers in charge of the project
chose glulam timber for the columns which are up to half a meter thick and cross-
laminated timber for the floors and walls.
