Executive Summary
AFTAB is the legendary name in Newspaper history of Pakistan specially Punjab. With
the newly equipped team of highly professionals and entrepreneurs AFTAB has
started its journey towards the heights again. With the conviction achievement of
business community, business relationship offices, marketing companies and
advertising agencies we see a bright and prosper future. We believe our
specialization is that we are close to the 80% of the population i.e. the rural
community.
Introduction
Daily AFTAB as you already know is one of the leading regional newspapers of
southern Punjab (Multan) also considered among the old legends of Lahore. The
success story of this organization is commitment to the truth but not promoting
yellow journalism.
AFTAB Multan is 42 years: the true voice of Southern Punjab.
AFTAB Lahore is 34 years: the trusted name of Northern Punjab.
AFTAB Karachi is 10 years: representative of Sindhi & Siriki community.
AFTAB after serving the large group of people is now re-launching its product in
renowned form. With the new and updated technology Daily AFTAB is looking
forward to bring its old valued Name among the recommended ones in addition to
giving a specialized geographic coverage of Punjab.
As you know the circulation figures of a daily newspaper goes up and down with the
passage of time and it is also affected by the political and economic situation of the
region. AFTAB as a daily, too have seen many different momentums in its life AFTAB
was the leading Regional Newspapers of South Punjab (Multan) having a remarkable
record circulations during 70’s and 80’s (over 85 thousand daily), AFTAB started its
publication from Lahore in 1983 and achieved successive circulation figures of above
63 thousand daily during in 90’s.
Daily AFTAB still enjoys an effective circulation of above 30,000 copies daily in south
and above 24,000 copies daily in the north Punjab. The important thing in this regard
is the geographical approach of AFTAB. It covers almost all the important centres of
south and north Punjab. Whole of the Saraiki Belt Multan Division, Bahawalpur
Division, Dera Ghazi Khan Division in the South and Lahore, Gujranwala, Silakot,
Gujrat, Gujranwala and others in the North.
Daily AFTAB has recently launched from main city of Sindh province Karachi, With a
vital edge of siriki vision, sindhi community has welcomed AFTAB more than our
expectations. The newly born AFTAB Karachi is therefore going through miles
everyday.
We really hope that with the people re-approaching towards the truth and disliking
the misuse of journalism AFTAB will defiantly once again make its part in hearts of
people and the fast growing circulation of AFTAB will again be at the top.
SENIOR MANAGEMENT
Mumtaz A. Tahir
Born on 1st March, 1946 at Multan, is the Chief Editor and Publisher of Daily AFTAB
Multan, Lahore and Karachi. He is B. Sc (Honors) & D.H.M.S. He has more than 45
years of experience in his journalistic career. He worked with regional as well as
different national newspapers before starting his own newspaper and kept the most
leading posts.
He started Daily AFTAB from Multan on 6th September, 1975. Under his editorship,
AFTAB Multan played a vital role in the Nizam-e-Mustafa Movement in 1976. It
achieved the hallmark in its circulation figures of above eighty thousand copies daily.
The city of Multan was the center of this movement and also had a great focus
worldwide. With his commanding leadership, the newspaper soon became famous
among not only in all parts of the country but also in the international associates of
the press.
After the success of Multan, Mumtaz A. Tahir started Daily AFTAB from Lahore on
14th August, 1983. It was again a vital political scenario for the country. MRD
(Movement of the Restoration of Democracy) started against the dictatorship of Gen.
Zia ul Haq and again the focus of the movement was the city of Lahore. With
providing the best coverage and real picture at the ground, Daily Aftab Lahore
successfully raised its circulation up to sixty five thousand copies daily.
In 1986 he joined APNS (All Pakistan Newspaper Society) as a member publication.
Mr. Tahir raised the voice for the Regional Dailies; Medium & Small sized publications
of the country. He is no doubt considered to be the most respectful by the members
in this regard. He has fought for the rights of Regional Dailies with not only inside the
Society but also with all upcoming governments.
He served Council of Newspaper Editors (CPNE) as Vice President twice as well as
Public Relations Secretary. He also served APNS as Vice President and Joint Secretary.
He was elected three times the Vice President of APNS. He is member of the
Executive Committee APNS and CPNE for last two decades.
Currently he holds the Chair of APNS Punjab Committee.
Mumtaz A. Tahir is also serving different social and cultural organizations such as:
i) President Khawaja Farid Cultural Forum Pakistan
ii) President Khawaja Farid Academy Pakistan
iii) Public Relations Secretary Social Welfare Society of Nishtar Medical College
Mumtaz A. Tahir has travelled abroad at various occasions and to different parts of
the world. He has accompanied Mr. Nawaz Sharif (Ex-Prime Minister of Pakistan) in
1997 to the United National’s General Assembly session, where he met a lot of
leaderships of the world.
Mr. Asad Mumtaz Seyal
(Publisher & Editor)
Asad Mumtaz Seyal was born on 1st March, 1971 at Multan, is B.Com (Gold Medalist)
& M. Sc. (Mass Communication) with distinction in the year 1995 from Punjab
University Lahore. He did his M. Phil from Islamia University Bahawalpur in 2015.
Asad has a vast experience in Journalism both as a working journalist and as a
mentor. He started his career back in 1992. He has worked with Daily AFTAB as Editor
for last 18 years. He is also serving Department Of Mass Communication Bahaud Din
Zakariya University Multan and Allama Iqbal Open University (Multan Campus) as
member visiting faculty since 1996. He is members of various national and
international Professional Forums.
He was elected President of Rotary Club Multan Cantt in 2017 and has served twice
as Secretary for the year 2015 and current year 2018. He is a senior member Board of
Management of Society for Special Persons, Vice Chairman Dastageer Justice Forum.
Asad has also specialized in research and worked on Different Areas regarding Print
Media, Electronic Media and Advertising Industry, he has also focused on the issues
of Poverty Elevation & Education and Problems of Special Persons in South Punjab.
He has also organised various Conferences, forums, Seminars and workshops and
remained associated with different Organisations like Baha Ud Din Zakariya
University, Multan Chambers of Commerce & Industry, PCPA, Institute of Food &
Nutrition, SSP, District Government Multan, etc as Media Partner.
Mohsin M. Seyal joined Daily Aftab in 2004 and at present holding the important
office of Resident Editor at Lahore. Being a qualified professional he has managed to
endow Daily Aftab with all the latest technologies and equipment for the paramount
and best coverage.
He is also heading the team of Women Times Monthly, the true voice of Women in
Pakistan. With the collaborations of different NGO’s, this publication is playing vital
role in betterment of image for Women in Pakistan.
