IMPROVED TOP PISTON RING — E-TECH™ ENGINES

E-Tech™ engines operated in demanding applications, such as pulling heavy loads up long
steep grades, may experience heavy wear in the upper cylinder bore area. An improved top
piston ring (part No. 349GC3113) has been developed for the ASET™ engines. This same
piston ring can also be used as the service replacement for E-Tech™ engines where heavy
bore wear has occurred. If an E-Tech™ engine is being rebuilt and heavy wear is noticed in
the upper area of the cylinder sleeve, it is recommended that this improved top piston ring
(part No. 349GC3113) be used. Piston ring set part numbers available through the MACK
Parts System are as follows:
앫 353GC2142 — Piston ring set — Includes new top ring part No. 349GC3113. Top ring
identified by an orange paint mark on ring face. This ring set is recommended for use
on E-Tech™ engines where heavy wear has been noticed in the upper area of the
cylinder sleeve.
앫 353GC2137 — Piston ring set — Included previous top ring part No. 349GC3101. Top
ring identified by a blue paint mark on ring face.

Other than the top rings, piston ring set part Nos. 353GC2142
and 353GC2137 are identical.

REV A new cylinder rebuild kit for E-Tech™ CCRS engines has been developed and is available
through the MACK Parts System.This is the only cylinder kit for E-Tech™ engines that will
be updated with the new top ring. If use of this ring is necessary in other applications, ring
set part No. 353GC2142 can be used. (All ASET™engines were manufactured with the new
ring, and all ASET™ cylinder kits include this new ring.)
앫 57GC3127 — Cylinder rebuild kit — This kit includes the improved top ring (part No.
349GC3113), the 17.4:1 compression ratio piston top (part No. 240GC5124M) used in
E-Tech™ CCRS engines only, and cylinder sleeve (part No. 509GC475). This cylinder
sleeve provides the increased 0.001″ (0.0254 mm) cylinder sleeve stand-up height.

As described in service bulletin SB-210-032, cylinder sleeve part

No. 509GC475 is mandatory for E-Tech™ CCRS E7-380/410,
E7-427 and E7-460 engine models, and optional (or desirable)
for use in all other E-Tech™ CCRS engines. Cylinder kit part No.
57GC3127 is the only cylinder kit available for E-Tech™CCRS
engines.
