4- Introduction
In this essay I will present a teaching. On it I will using the grammar translation
method. I will give some details of my chosen teaching method. In a concept
map I will present the advantages and disadvantages of the grammar
translation method. Also I am going to be showing the difficulties and solution to
overcome those difficulties of the method already mentioned. Finally I will
present a design of my own teaching plan.

5. 1. Introduce the chosen method of English Learning.

This first method is based in an exchange of the knowledge of the student’s


mother language and the new language’s one. It is useful for literature
situations, it means, basically, for written texts, comprehension.
The grammar translation method allows the teacher and the students to use the
mother language to translate and create references from one language to the
other. This way, the students become capable of recognizing similar
constructions and built in their heads the ones that are new.

5. 2. Explain in details the chosen method of English Learning.


The grammar translation method maintains close association between the
foreign language and the mother tongue. It lays emphasis on speech. It follows
the adults’ natural way of leaning a new language. This method teaches formal
grammar. I chose this method for my lesson plan because of two reasons: One I
am supposed to teach people from the very beginning level and my reason
number two is that I consider that the grammar translation method is the most
appropriated method for beginner learners.

5. 4. Difficulties related to the chosen method of English Learning.
There are many thorns that can mortify us during the translation process,
whatever the nature of the text we face, and translators should be aware of
them. The first problem is related to reading and comprehension ability in the
source language. Once the translator has coped with this obstacle, the most
frequent translation difficulties are of a semantic and cultural nature, linguistic
untranslatability (cognates, i.e. true and false friends, calque, and other forms
of interference; institutional and standardized terms, neologisms, aphorisms,
etc.), and cultural untranslatability, (idioms, sayings, proverbs, jokes, puns, etc.).
One should adopt a very cautious attitude toward these words or expressions
so as to avoid interference and/or language misuse.
5. 5. Solutions to overcome learning difficulties according to the
chosen method of English Learning.
From my own point of you I think that one of the solutions to overcome the
difficulties related to the grammar translation method is this way, when I have
used the grammar translation method during a certain time with my student then
I start using the direct method.

Linguistic content:
Using simple present tense to talk about ‘’ Routine or habitual activity’’
Adverbs and expression of frequency. So students will express how often they
do certain things.
Questions using how often/how much/how long. Students will ask questions
each other using these words to figure out the time their partners spend doing
certain activities.

Reading event listing in a magazine.
Students will read about ‘’Cell phone obsession’’
Students will complete exercises about the reading and fill out some
questionnaire to elicit their reading comprehension.

Preparation (10 minutes)
When the students are set to start the lesson will chat with them about how
often they do some activities like watching TV, talking by phone, using the
internet, check their emails, going shopping

Ask them about their favorite hobbies
Discuss native speakers pronunciation (reduction of ‘’do you’’ when pronounced
quickly.

Evaluation (8 minutes)

Ask the students the way they use adverb expressions to talk the frequency

The students bring three written examples using the simple present to talk
about routines.

Homework exercise on the simple present tense using adverb of frequency.
Text book section on ‘’Simple present’’
Authentic Materials:
Weekend TV show on routines
Listening on favorite pastime
Reading on adverb expressions.
7- Conclusion
A lesson plan is so important because it leads the teachers to reach their goals
in a teaching process. According to the lecture a plan is the map that will point
out to the teachers where to go and what to do, without it the teachers won’t
have a clear goal to reach and their or objectives he wants his students to reach
will be uncertain.
