history of Hawaii. The talk will connect to the fieldwork within Day 1 in addition to new information
about the deep history of Hawaii.
19:00 UHM SLS Grad Student Team Reflection/Discussion <Deep Hawaiian History> - Linda, Moeko,
and Kahea, to reflect with the students about what they learned throughout the day and connect
their knowledge to the overall Global Leadership Project (i.e. how could the history of Hawaii Waikiki Sunset
influence a global leader). Students to write down their thoughts and discussions or answers in their
workbooks

Details & Brainstorming for Global Leadership Project - Throughout the entire program,
students must take note of the aloha spirit felt in Hawaii by understanding the correlation between
cultural diversity and peace. Students will gradually learn and realize how important it is to connect
8:00 attitude with actions. By the end of the program, students will make a final presentation about their Waikiki Sunset
experience in Hawaii, as well as to identify their own inner potential of being a leading citizen to
their community and to the world. Students must be able to create a Power Point Presentation to
accompany their 5 minute presentation. 3-5 necessary competencies must be included.

Exploration UH Manoa - BEGIN FROM THE PARKING STRUCTURE! Action Bound App / GPS-
10:15 based scavenger hunt across UHM campus; complete tasks and missions, interact with UHM UHM
students; solve questions; earn the most points to win! (Ending point should be CC 309)
UH Bookstore / Break - Groups to report to CC 309 by 11:55 a.m. // Linda to meet and brief the
11:30 (*3) “NEW” Islanders for the day / (3) Islanders to setup Hale Aloha *LbE Hawaii will be recruiting 3
different Islanders for the purpose of showcasing Hawaii’s unique cultural diversity*
Sack Lunch / 2017 Uenogaoka Student Project Video Sample - Students to eat lunch in the
12:00 room while watching 2017 student project video samples to gain inspiration and deeper
understanding of the project contents and expectations.
Hale Aloha - Learn about the culture and identity of (3) Islanders [; learn about the aspects that

Global Leadership Activity Discussion (w/ Linda & Moeko) - Linda and Moeko to share with
students about social issues in Hawaii/America (Race vs. Nationality, Sexual Orientation, Religion,

and/or compare to issues in Japan. Students shall be prepared to present their solutions on how
they could contribute to the world in regards to social issues.
Global Leadership Activity - “What does it mean to serve people and community;” Brainstorm &
