Clip Ardmore. An Oklahoma man
resized has been sentenced to life in pris-
46% on without parole for the 2016 kill-
ings of two men in Ardmore. Craig
Stanford of Ardmore pleaded
guilty last month to two counts of
ÀUVWGHJUHHPXUGHUIRUWKHGHDWKV
of Aaron Lavers and Anthony Rog-
ers. Prosecutors agreed to drop
the death penalty in exchange for
the plea. Stanford also told author-
ities where he hid the gun used in
WKHPHQ·VVOD\LQJVDQGLWZDVUH-
covered last month. Stanford also
was sentenced to an additional
50 years in prison after pleading
guilty to burglary, concealing sto-
len property and being a felon in
SRVVHVVLRQRIDÀUHDUP
Chickasaw. Jesus Gaspar De-
lira, 64, was booked into jail on a
murder complaint. He is accused
of stabbing his wife to death and
wounding his stepdaughter. About
7:30 p.m., Jessica Marie Delira,
31, called police and said she had
been stabbed by her stepfather.
Police found her mother, Lisa Ma-
rie Delira, dead inside.
Choctaw County. A 2-year-old
boy drowned in a pond according
to the OHP. About 3:00 a.m., the
mother of the boy noticed the boy
was missing. Troopers said the

pond, about two miles north of
Sawyer, and was found about 4:00
a.m. in about 3.5 feet of water.
Dustin. Cindy Norton was driv-
ing a vehicle east on SH 84 when
it broke down. Eric Norton and two
boys, 13 and 15, were pushing
the vehicle when it was struck by
a pickup driven east on the high-
way by Mark Smith, 57. Cindy and
Eric Norton died at the scene. The
two boys whose names were not
released, were taken to a hospital,

Kingston. Nearly seven months
after information surfaced about a
teacher having an inappropriate
relationship with a student, the

Krebs. The trial of a man ac-
cused in the death of his daughter
has been postponed. Jury selec-
tion was scheduled to begin in the

Sizemore, 23, who is charged in
the 2016 death of his daughter,
21-month-old Emily Sizemore.

Devin Sizemore was standing in
the middle of a pond near Kerbs,
about three miles east of McAles-
ter, when they arrived on July 15,
2016. They say the toddler was

from her father. The trial was pre-
viously postponed in November
over whether the offense occurred
in Indian country and should be
tried by the federal government.
Love County. Felony charg-
HVZHUHÀOHGDJDLQVWIRUPHU)DLU
Board member, Ann Marie Hy-
man. The 35-year-old Leon resi-
dent allegedly wrote more than
60 fraudulent checks totaling more
than $20,000 between February
2015 and December 2017. A law-
yer presented a check of $16,335
to other board members. It was
not accepted by the board at that
time, and the matter was referred

Madill. County Emergency Man-
ager Robert Chaney informed
commissioners that the county
has received a $200,000 grant
for a Storm Shelter Program. The
grant is a reimbursement grant
which will pay for 75 percent of
the cost (up to $2,000) of the in-
stallation of a storm shelter at any
home in Marshall County.
Oklahoma City. If twenty per-
cent of the teachers walkout on
Monday, April 2, there will not be
enough manpower to keep build-
ings open. They would close

be enough adults in the building
to be sure of a safe environment
for students. About 1,400 district
teachers responded to a recent

61 percent indicating a willing-
ness to walk off the job in protest
of low pay and inadequate school
funding. There is also planning
for a one-day teacher walkout on
Wednesday, March 28.
Roosevelt. Dewayne Eric
Skaggs, 20, was driving a sport
utility vehicle along State Highway
19, about four miles west of Roo-
sevelt. Troopers say Skaggs died
in a wreck, which remains under
investigation. A 17-year-old pas-
senger in the SUV, who was not
named, was not injured.
State. Democratic Governor
hopeful Drew Edmondson was
asked about sanctuary cities. “I
GRQ·WWKLQNLQWKLVDUHQDWKDWDQ\
municipality or any state is obli-
gated to assist the federal gov-
ernment in enforcing policies
that state or municipality may not
agree with.” Edmondson also out-
lined his plan to pay for a teacher
pay raise. He said he would re-
store the gross production tax to
seven percent on all gas and oil,
and raise the cigarette tax, $1.50
a pack.
State. A bill in the state legis-
lature would divert property tax-
es (ad valorem taxes) which are
primarily used tor school building
funds, to teacher pay and hiring
additional staff. “For operating ex-
penses,” said Senator Stephanie
Bice, “this would allow them the
ÁH[LELOLW\WRDOVRXWLOL]HLWIRUWHDFK-
ing salaries.” Another individual,
Owasso Democrat J. J. Dossett
said the measure would shift the
burden of funding a teacher pay
raise from the legislature to local
school boards.
7LVKRPLQJR·V plan to install a
much-needed water line improve-
ment is illegal under a state law
regarding nepotism. A bid was
planned to be accepted to allow
Chaney Utility Construction to do
the work, but Chaney is the son
of Norma Chaney, a board mem-
ber. The Chaney Utility bid was
$397,505 and the lowest of six
bids received for the project.
State. A bill being considered by
lawmakers would let voters leave
work without penalty on Thursday
and/or Friday before elections to
vote in-person absentee. The
bill would also change the voting
hours on Saturday from 2 p.m. un-
til 5 p.m.; and would change the
dates of school board elections

the state constitution which would
have to be approved by voters
would require the governor and
lieutenant governor to run jointly,
which would prevent them from
being in different parties.
State. State Rep. Charles Mc-
Call will remain speaker of the
Oklahoma House. The Republi-
can caucus voted to keep McCall,
R-Atoka, as speaker for another
two years. The vote happened
behind closed doors, and Mc-
Call would not speak to reporters
about the election. Four of his fel-
