Itis my pleasure to write a letter of recommendation for Jon Aldrich. Jon has been an
instructional asset for Southeast Polk Jr. High since August 2014. Mr. Aldrich has
excelled instructionally, collaboratively and as a leader.
Mr. Aldrich has embraced the role of providing high quality instruction while being a
classroom teacher. Mr. Aldrich implements and shares instructional strategies with his
colleagues that are student centered. Among student centered instructional strategies
used are the Gradual Release of Responsibility, Productive Group Work and Flexible
Grouping. Jon has also shown the ability to create meaningful productive relationships
with students. As a result of a student centered foous, students have thrived
academically and socially in Mr. Aldrich's classroom.
Mr, Aldrich has been an integral part of Southeast Polk Jr. High's collaborative efforts
during his time as a teacher. Mr. Aldrich has worked with a classroom associate to
provide quality instruction to all of his students including students with IEP's. Mr. Aldrich
has been an integral part of the Science PLC where he has worked collaboratively
within the PLC to prioritize science standards, implement MTSS protocols and has
taken the lead on the district's data collection website iO.
‘As a model teacher Mr. Aldrich has been active within Southeast Polk's Teacher
Leadership Program. He attends teacher leader meetings, is on the Special Education
Advisory Committee, as well as the Equity Steering District Committee. Mr. Aldrich has
been a leader in professional development by leading a district wide professional
development session on flexible grouping as well as leading book study groups within
the Jr. High. Jon has also filled in for the Jr. High School Administration Manager
(SAM) while she was on leave. Mr. Aldrich did an excellent job of substituting in the
office and assumed many of the roles of the SAM, such as student supervision, student
discipline and day to day operations. His help and professionalism are greatly
appreciated. Jon has never hesitated to take on leadership roles and fully invest
himself in making learning meaningful for both his colleagues and students. Mr. Aldrich
is a valued member of the Southeast Polk Junior High instructional staff. It is my
pleasure to recommend Jon for an administrative position. Please feel free to contact
