Respected Sir/Madam,

Literary Club is organizing BOL’ 18 an Inter Universities Literary Competition, comprising of many
competitions. With profound regards, we cordially invite your prestigious institute to participate in
this event scheduled on March 07, 2018. You are humbly requested to send the confirmation of your
participants not later than March 01, 2018.

BOL’ 16 was the first ever and the only inter universities literature competition in the history of
University of Engineering and Technology Lahore, Faisalabad Campus. Literary Club is playing a
significant role in strengthening and sustaining the taste for literature, academic environment, along
with co-curricular activities of students at the campus.
Proposed Events:
• Declamation • Urdu/Punjabi Ghazal
• Bait Baazi • Urdu/English Short Stories
• Urdu Nazam • Calligraphy

While arriving on March 07, 2018, your team participants must bring their CNIC, Institute ID and
authority letter for registration in this mega event. Schedule of the programs, rules and regulations
are attached herewith.

Event Details and Rules
General Details and Rules

• It is one day event. Reporting time in campus is 8 am sharp.


• Allah Bakhsh Yad, the renowned writer will be chief guest of BOL’ 18.
• For registration you have to fill an online form. Form should be filled by focal
person/chaperone. You have to mention all your participant’s details in that single form.
• On Event day, you have to bring a list of all your participants with Their CNIC numbers.
• Registration fee will be collected before start of event.
• Focal person/chaperone name should be mention on registration form and that Focal
Person/Chaperone must have to come with team.
• Teams can bring audience from their institutions but their names and CNICs must be provided
one day before event for some security reason.
• Everyone should bring their CNICs along with them to avoid any problem while entering the
campus premises.
• In case of any vulgar, political, objectionable or suspicious action by any one, strict action may
be taken by University Administration.

Rules and Regulations:


• Each participating institute is to be represented by a team comprising two speakers only, one
to speak in Urdu and other in English. One of the speaker is to speak on a serious topic and
the other must on a humorous one.
• The competition will comprise of one round only.
• Each University/College can nominate only one participant for the English Speech.
• Time limit will be minimum 04 minutes and maximum 06 minutes.
• Paper reading will not be allowed.
• Speakers will not be allowed to make objectionable, vulgar or indecent remarks about anyone.
• Judges can disqualify a participant over the violation of any rules.
• Speaker should refrain from using excessive Urdu in their English Speech and vice versa.
• The speaker may agree or disagree with the topic. The subject matter of the speech based on
the logical interpretation of the topic will carry maximum credit in terms of marks.
• A speaker making offensive remarks about any important personage or passing controversial
religious, political or sectarian remarks shall be immediately disqualified.
• Using words/sentences with any indecent connotation and passing derogatory remarks
against the chair will lead to instant disqualification of the speaker.
• Winner team will be decided on the base of total marks gained by both participants.
• Winner will get shields and certificates. There are also participation certificates for every
participant.
• Registration fee: Rs. 700/- per team.
Bait-Baazi

Rules and Regulations:


• Each team will consist of two participants.
• Each University/College can nominate only one team for the Bait Bazi Competition.
• All teams must keep in mind the ethical and moral values while selecting the verses.
• The verse once recited should not be repeated.
• The conscious attack of Radeef is prohibited; violation will result in deduction of mark.
• The criteria of judgment will be based upon:
➢ Behr/Wazan
➢ Presentation and Pronunciation
➢ Quality of the verse
• Each verse has a value of 3 marks, each mistake will result in the loss of 1 marks.
• In case of more than 1 mistake in a single verse, marks equal to the number of mistakes will
be deducted from the total marks of the team.
• If any team fails to respond a verse from the other team, all three marks of that verse will be
deducted from the total marks of that team.
• Decision of judges will not be challenged in any case.
• Winner will get shields and certificates. There are also participation certificates for every
participant.
• Registration fees: Rs. 700/- per team.

Urdu Nazam:

Rules and Regulations:
• Poem should be created according to the given Title.
• Recitation of Nazam should not exceed the time limit of three minutes; one who exceeds
the time limit will earn negative marking.
• Stanza of poem must not be repeated.
• Any conflicting issue (caste, religion etc.) in the theme of poem must be avoided and will be
discouraged.
• Each participant has to submit four copies of the poem at least one hour before the start of
competition.
• Each University/College can nominate only one participant for the Poem competition.
• The criteria of judgment will be based upon:
➢ Rhyme scheme
➢ Presentation and Pronunciation
➢ Quality of thoughts
• Decision of judges will be final cannot be challenged in any case.
• Winner will get shields and certificates. There are also participation certificates for every
participant.
• Registration fee: Rs. 400/- per participant.

Urdu Ghazal:

Rules and Regulations:


• Ghazal should not be more than 5 verses; one who exceeds the limit will earn negative marks.
• Stanza of Ghazal must not be repeated.
• “Girrah” is necessary.
• Any conflicting issue (caste, religion etc.) in the theme of ghazal must be avoided and will be
discouraged.
• Each participant has to submit four copies of the ghazal at least one hour before the start of
competition.
• Each University/College can nominate only one participant for the Ghazal competition.
• The criteria of judgment will be based upon:
➢ Rhyme scheme
➢ Presentation and Pronunciation
➢ Quality of thoughts

Short Story (English/Urdu)

Rules and Regulations:


• Each person will submit a short story of 1100-1300 words.
• Theme must not contradict the topic.
• Political or religious material must not include the entry.
• Applicants have to submit stories before 02 March 2018.
• Applicants will submit stories at the following email: literaryclub.uet@gmail.com.
• Results will be announced on the day of event.
• The Event Management has the right to reject any story during the review/screening process.
• Winner will get shields and certificates. There are also participation certificates for every
participant.
• Registration fee: Rs. 400/- per story (Urdu or English).

Calligraphy

Rules & Regulations:


• All participants will be given a verse to write in limited period of time.
• The style of calligraphy dimensions, colors and other raw material are at the discretion of
the student.
• Line must be straight, forms must be consistence.
• Charts, markers will be provided by the Literary Club.
• Winner will get shields and certificates. There are also participation certificates for every
participant.
• Registration fee: Rs. 500/- per participant.
