Q8 Please enter comments below related to the teacher candidate's lesson plan(s):

Ms. Corbitt is still working from Ms. Rankin's lesson. I reviewed two lesson plans. The plans were aligned with a Virginia Beach
objective. The plans included most components but are basic and lack detail. Differentiation states "by small groups." There was no
consideration for classroom management.

Weekly journals are graded and submitted via Blackboard.

Q10 Please enter general comments below related to your observations.

I observed Anne teaching a small-group (3) reading lesson. The lesson integrated science concepts (solids vs. liquids). The students
read aloud and then completed a Venn diagram. The students shared and explained their responses. She called another group to the
table (5). The students shared statements from the prior lesson. The group reviewed unfamiliar vocabulary. Ms. Corbitt used a
democratic style to determine the group roles. The students rotated roles.

Q11 What went well:

Ms. Corbitt integrated reading and science. She used a graphic organizer effectively (Venn Diagram- w/ paper plates). She discussed
unfamiliar vocabulary.

Q12 What could be done differently:

The lesson plans should reflect a higher level of planning. Remember to add details for each component to show instructional decision-
making.

Q13 Candidate's strengths:

The students related easily and comfortably with Ms. Corbitt. The students were engaged throughout the lesson.

Q14 Areas that need refinement:

Presence- Remember to speak with more certainty and authority when directing whole group instruction. Your small-group tone and
interactions were appropriate.

Q15 Focus for next observation:

I will review lesson plans for detail and quality. I will also focus on improved aire of authority with whole group direction.
