WHITEBOARD
Directions: Using the template below, describe how you would use the interactive whiteboard in your
future classroom. Consider if your ideas is teacher centered or student centered. The learning activities
should be engaging and meaningful to the students and to others who will view/use/benefit from students’
work.

Describe your personal learning goal for this activity. With this piece of software, I am integrating
activities and quiz into the class like I have never before. Instead of giving the students an individual warm-
up, that is supplied on a sheet of paper, I would be giving them an opportunity to use the technology
supplied in the classroom and let them work with their peers. From this activity, I am hoping the students
will notice how much more detail movies have compared to the movies that are based off these novels.
Being able to visually see it, and then talk about it, can really drive the importance and help them become
aware of how much detail the movies leave out. I hope this will help the students learn by making the
activity very interactive, and will catch their attention using a piece of technology that is not used daily.
Importance of technology: Having an interactive whiteboard in the classroom is important because it has
so much to offer that can really catch the student’s attention. Growing up, all I had in the classroom was a
whiteboard and an overheard projector; any activities done in class were not done through technology. It
was not til my last half of high school that my county installed a interactive whiteboard, but even with this
new technology the teachers did not know much about it. So, having this technology in the classroom is a
major benefactor, and if trained correctly can have a major impact in the classroom. This allows the

students to interact together as a class, and to present information to the class, and a teacher can even
provide assessments through this technology. Without this technology, it can be hard to get the students
attention and have them engaged in the lesson. Even though students might not engage with this type of
technology, it would be a way to breakaway from the traditional classroom set up.
Reflection: This experience taught me that it is okay to branch away from what is normal in the classroom,
and to try something new. Before learning of this technology, I assumed this was just an average type of
technology that would be impossible to learn. But what I learned is that with some practice, and some help,
it can be a piece of technology that can be learned and useful in the classroom. I am excited to one day use
this in my own classroom, and have my students actively engaged in what I am teaching.
