INTERNAL DEADLINE – 11TH MAY 2018

FINAL DEADLINE – 25TH MAY 2018

EXHIBITION – 20TH-27TH JUNE 2018

The objective of Unit 13: Extended project in creative media production is to produce
a visual product that meets professional standards. In order to ensure that my work
meets professional standards I chose to produce my work for a client. My production
will be reflective of the client; therefore it must be to a high quality. In addition to
this, the examination board looks favorably on students working with clientele – I can
maximize my grade by producing for someone else.

In order to pass unit 13 and maximize my grade I will complete the following to the
best of my abilities:

 Context
 Research
 Problem solving and communication
 Planning and pre-production
 Technical skills and production
 Evaluation
 Presentation/exhibition.

In order to evaluate my work comprehensively I will be producing weekly video logs

over the entire unit. These logs will give me the opportunity to reflect on my
performance throughout the week, the quality of my work and how I am working to
improve and complete it. Following the completion of my production I will also
produce a written evaluation that reflects on my production skills over the entire unit.
Within this written evaluation I will assess my production and how it was received to
the target audience.

Whilst I am in control of what I produce, there are rules and expectations set by the
examination board that I must follow in order for my work to be valid and gradable.
These include:

 There will be no reference to drugs, no swearing and no nudity within my

production
 All practical work must be my own
 Only 10% of your production can be found footage an only as I am producing
a factual film (Documentary)
 No footage or written work from previous units may be used or resubmitted for my final
project
 Written work must be my own and any sourced work must be Harvard
referenced properly
 The work submitted must follow the brief created at the beginning of my final
project
In addition to this, I must abide my guidelines I have agreed with the football team I
am documenting. This will include:
 Filming rules/validation
 Content covered
 Interview restrictions
 Use of logo and branding.
 Use of footage.

This will allow me to produce a piece of work that both I and the football team are
proud to be a part of, and that I maintain a healthy professional relationship with the
team.
Not only this, I will need to abide by the following laws and courtesies to ensure that
my work is legal and that I respect the culture of Barcelona:
 Acquire permission to film strangers and everyone in the documentary
 I abide by requests of filming/not filming in public places.
 I remove identity (blur face) of those who do not want to be filmed (if
required)
 I abide by city laws
 I commute lawfully to Barcelona.
 I do not use my footage for sinister purposes.

+ CLIENT +
I am producing my work for a football team based in Barcelona, named
"Tea and Busquets". The team are a group of individuals working in
Barcelona away from their home countries, who find friendship in a mutual
love for football. The team currently compete in one of the many amateur
football leagues across Barcelona and southern Spain. I found this football
team as the manager has contact with my sister; my sister recommended
the team to me as a client. As I am working with a client, and not a
competition or festival, there is no confirmed deadline. In order to confirm
the deadline I can contact the football team to agree a date that I can
present the documentary.

+ OUTLINE OF IDEA +

Home in the away end (Name Provisional) is a documentary that explores how
expat workers remain connected to football away from their home countries.
The documentary will take place in the home of football, Barcelona. The
documentary follows a football team named ‘Tea and Busquets’, who are a
group of people working away from their home countries, made friends by a
mutual love for football. Within the feature I will focus on the players’ origins
and how they ended up working in Barcelona. Through interviews some of the
teammates will talk about their home clubs and how they make every effort to
remain connected and up to date with the club’s performance. As the
individuals have been brought to football’s home I will display their
integration into football culture and their support for the biggest club in
Europe (Barcelona). The documentary will feature shots of the team members
going out to watch Barcelona play and embrace the footballing culture. I will
also explore how being in Barcelona affects their lives a football fan. Shifting
the focus from the individuals I will cover the team’s style of play, their
placement in the Spanish football system and their opponents. As Barcelona
have an iconic playstyle I will cover how it is reflected in amateur play. The
locals of Barcelona are extremely passionate about football and their culture,
something that is transferred to people living in the city.
+ TARGET AUDIENCE +

In order for our work to be appealing and relevant I must cater to a given
target audience. This means that what I produce will be personalised to a
gender, so that it is interesting to them. This will mean that my production is
received well and I can maximise my grade.
I am producing my documentary for predominantly male football fans of all
ages. In previous units I have catered to various target audiences and I have
learned that people of all ages can enjoy documentaries, as long as it caters to
the expectations of their age group. In addition to this, I have experience with
catering to multiple age groups – I produced a documentary in unit 10 that
had to cater to 10-18, 30-40 and 50-60 year olds - therefore I will be able to
use the appropriate skills to make my work relevant to them. Some people
who watch the documentary will be similarly aged to the athletes of the team I
am working with. This means that the efforts of the team should be relatable
and appealing to younger adults who may be prospective of working abroad.
