Clear Voice with a wireless router

The ATA should be connected directly to the Clear modem


• The wireless router should be connected to the LAN port on the ATA
• The phone will connect to the ATA

The ATA should be installed directly behind the modem.


This allows voice traffic to have top priority and makes
troubleshooting easier.
Fax & Analog Line Update
• Fax machines working across all markets
• Analog Line Devices Working Including
– Credit Card Machines / DirecTV & Dish DVR
– Rule One: Use Ethernet First
– Requires “*99” Dial Prefix, then a “comma” or “pause”

Understanding the Terminology
VoIP Voice Over Internet Technology enabling the Internet as the transmission medium to send voice data in
packets over an IP network instead of the PSTN.
Protocol

ATA Analog Telephone The device used to convert the voice signal from a standard telephone into IP packets.
Adapter

e911 Enhanced 911 911 calls go to the PSAP with complete location information. This is why address
accuracy is so important.

PSTN Public Switched Traditional circuit-switch phone network evolving from the days of Alexander Graham
Bell. AKA, Plain Old Telephone Service (POTS).
Telephone Network

PSAP Public Safety The physical location where 911 emergency calls are received and then routed to the
proper emergency services.
Answering Point

RC Rate Center An area of common rates and telephone number groups defined by the ILEC’s.

ILEC Incumbent Local Seven local telephone companies created by the brake up of AT&T in 1983 by Judge
