Elastic Modulus:-

You modulus (E) describe tensil dasticity or the tendency of an object ti deform along an axis
when opposing force are applied along that axis, it is defined as.

“The radio of tensile stress to tenile strain it is often referred to simply as the elastic modulus.

Principle:-
A flat bar is supported at two point it is bent by the action of a force acting at its centre. The
modulas of elasticity is determined from the bending and the geometric date of the bar.

Benefits:-
Find out the parameters that give a bar stability.

Measure the difference of elasticity in various metals with different lengths.

Learn how to determine force with a dial guage.

Tasks:
1. Determine of the charadenistics curve of the dial gauge.
2. Determinations of the bending of flat bars as a function of the force at a constant force of
the thickness of the width and distance between the sport points.
3. Determination of the modulus of elasticity of steel aluminum and brass.

What We Can

Learn about:,

 Young modulus.
 Modulus of elasticity.
 Stress
 Deformation
 Poisson ratio
 Hook’s law
Setup Procedure:-
The dial guage is mounted on the knife edge with stirrup. The flat fars must be positioned
accurately on the two supporting knife edges having having the possibility to move in x and g
direction. The geometric data of the stup and the bars must be recorded several times or at
different positions.

As the dial gauge posselses a restoring force which obeys hook’s law F, its characteristics curve
must first of all be determined.

The resulting force F of the dial gauge is the sum of.

Where

F- static friction force (constant) F- restoring force (F;S) since the static friction force always
acts opposed to the direction of motion, case should be taken of constant direction of force while
recording of the characteristic eurve of the dial gauge as well as during performance of the
experiment.Additionally, the pluger
