Dear Sir/Madam,

CBSE is an autonomous body working under aegis of the Ministry of Human Resource
Development, Government of India. Central Board of Secondary Education is the leading
Educational Board in Country at national Level. It has robust system of school inspection and
schools are affiliated after due process looking into infrastructure and facilities available with the
school as prescribed in affiliation bye laws of the CBSE.

CBSE has affiliated appx 1350 institutions in Kerala and granted them affiliation for
running class upto X/XII and these schools are successfully imparting quality education to the
students and thereby serving society.

We came to understand that some of the AEO/DEO across the state have been issuing
letters to CBSE affiliated schools asking them to shift students from class I to Class VIII to nearby
government / aided schools and not to admit any more students in their classes as if these
schools don’t have the required permission to run the above classes. AEO/DEO have also stated
that permission granted by CBSE is only for classes IX-XII. This is causing harassment of
schools and created panic amongst Parents/children.

In this context clarified that CBSE has process of issuing Composite Affiliation.
Composite affiliation with CBSE means (and includes) approval by CBSE for running
classes from Standard I to X ( For schools affiliated upto X) and from I to Class XII (For
schools affiliated upto XII level) as the case may be.

I am enclosing the district wise list of CBSE approved & affiliated schools ( Excel files)
which are authorised by CBSE to run class upto class 10th /12th with a request to forward the
same to respective DEO/AEO of each district to correct their records so that there is no repetition
of further harassment of CBSE affiliated schools.
The school included in the list( attached) are approved by CBSE for running classes from
I to X( Level Mentioned in list as 10) or I to XII( Level Mentioned in list as 12)
