THE NATURE OF TOURISM AND TRAVEL

Tourism simply refers to travelling for leisure, business or recreational purposes. From this point of view it is
clear that tourism and travelling go hand in hand. One cannot talk of tourism without travel, and also cannot talk
of travel without tourism. Tourists usually travel and stay away from their normal areas or rather environment
for some time with an aim of getting involved in business, leisure or other purposes.

Those tourists who travel for leisure tend to target the wildlife and also other natural sites. The tourists who
travel for business tend to target conferences .The tourists normally help in uplifting the economies of those
countries they visit. Apart from that tourism tend to make the world to be more interactive and a better place for
everyone.

Tourism is known to be the world’s largest industry, where a lot of money is made .It is very crucial area. Many
countries around the world spend a lot of money, billions and billions of dollars in tourism in order to ensure
that it continues. As a major player in economies of many countries, tourism provides employment especially in
the service industry in areas involving transportation, accommodation and entertainment.

Tourism knows no borders .It involves even the locals in what is called local tourism. So apart from tourists
coming from other parts of the world, the local tourists also find time to tour their own native country. These
locals also find time to tour other countries, and in the process tourists from other countries also tend to find
time to tour other countries as well, apart from the country of their own. This is just in a broad way how tourism
operates.

Countries like the United States, Russia, Germany, China and Brazil are known to spend heavily on tourism.
This is just an indication that tourism is not an area that can easily come to an end. In addition, even some
modified or rather artificial areas tend also to attract tourists a lot. Tourists can go to any length to ensure that
they are comfortable where they visit.

Tourists spend as much money as possible just to achieve their intended targets. So they give a better reason for
tourism to thrive and continue. This confirms the better level of tourism.
Child Abandonment
How can parents have a cold heart and abandon their child? Also how can they not notice a child is a part
of them? Child abandonment has been a problem in America and it should be stopped. The parents should
be found and punished. They should also be held accountable for their actions.

What is child abandonment and why does it happen? Child abandonment occurs when the legal guardian
falls to provide the child with proper supervision or guardianship. Some parents allow the child to be
harmed. Also some guardian gives drugs or alcohol to the child. It happens because parents can’t support
their children or they just do what they want with their kids. Sometimes it’s just too much to handle. It
can also happen because a parent may not be ready to take care of a child and they may still have school
ahead, also when girls don’t have enough money to support their child for food or clothing. Also mostly
because teenage girls aren’t allowed to have children at an early age and some are just embarrass
knowing that they already have a child.

Child abandonment can lead to harm or even death. For example, according to Sacramento Bee, CA on
10/09/07, a teenage girl around sixteen years old abandons an infant in the arms of another woman. She
asked her to hold the newborn while she was preparing a bottle of milk. Then she turned around and left.
Also in Kansas City on 9/13/07, Michelle M. Johnson, the mother of a 3 year old murdered her daughter
where she slowly died before dumping her body in the near by woods. She admitted leaving the
decapitated corpse and helped hide the head. Also in Baltimore Sun, MD 10/23/07 a pit bull attacked a
one year old, nearly bit his nose off. The dog has never been vicious to the boy or to the family. The
father wrestled it about ten minutes until the ambulance came.

There’s other option if people don’t want to keep their child. In San Francisco, CA passed a law in 2000
that allows parents to surrender their infants to a hospital emergency. Or they could take their child to a
fire station this was to prevent parents from abandoning there children in bushes or in trash bins. They
also have a cps that would go into a home to remove a child for any reason abuse or mental abuse and
put the child in a foster home. They would even grab a garbage bag and put the kid’s belongings in there,
take them to a foster home. It’s a difficult time in a kid’s life when they separate from a parent. Lorenz
started the program for four years. The program was in the Fairfield and Travis lion club.

Unfortunately, some people do oppose of this. Some parents think they can do anything they want since
it’s their child. Also they think it’s ok because that’s the way they discipline them. I think that it’s wrong
for a parent to abandon their child because there individuals they can’t what they want with them. When a
child is born the guardian are just there protectors.

In conclusion, child abandonment can lead to harm or even death. I don’t understand why parents can do
such things. Just knowing it’s there own flesh blood. There are other options if people don’t want to keep
their child. Instead of abusing them, or abandoning their child on there own. It’s just so sad that for any
reason to take a child away from a fit parent because you think they’ll be better of somewhere else.

People say when we throw away our children we throw away our future. So this is why child abandonment
should be stopped.
The world today is vastly different from what it was before urbanisation and industrialisation had
taken its toll on the world. Since the turn of the new millennium the issue of the environment has
suddenly evolved into a widespread issue which is greatly discussed throughout the world. No
longer are humans living in a world where the environment is serene or stable but much rather
becoming unrecognisable and diminishing before our eyes. The plants, trees and flowers are life
forms which God has created for us to enjoy its beauty but it is now solely up to us and many
other organisations to protect preserve and respect how fragile our environment really is.

One of the most evident problems associated to the environment is the issue of the logging of
trees, mainly in undisturbed places such as the Amazon basin. Trees are considered the lungs of
the Earth. They recycle all the polluting carbon in the air and return oxygen back into our
atmosphere, creating a stable cycle of carbon in our atmosphere. However, the impeccable rates
which trees are being cut down in our forests have grown to ever increasing and alarming rates.
Trees that are made way for farming are burnt up releasing deadly amounts of carbon and thus
leading to the problem of global warming. As its names suggest the world is slowly warming up
and without any notice the environment which God has gave us will be slowly eradicated. The
daily lives which humans carry on about every day are also a factor influencing on our
environment and global warming. By driving cars that have a thirst for petrol we are releasing
carbon dioxide and furthermore impacting on the world?s climate. In Australia environmental
impact has always been evident. Land clearing especially in places such as Queensland has
caused land to lay dry and lifeless where all forms of life is destroyed. By clearing land we are not
only affecting our climate but are also destroying animal habitat and the usage of the land.
Senseless actions by commuters in Australia, emitting tons and tons of lethal gases vulnerable to
the atmosphere are starting to take its toll on our climate. We are seeing a harsher climate and at
the same time less rain. If we want to preserve our world we must take a stance on this issue and
take action for what is right, not carrying on the actions that will lead to a desolate, destroyed
Earth.

Pope John Paul II once said, ?It is the task of human beings to care for, preserve and cultivate the
treasures of creation.? The Pope is becoming aware of the environmental issues impacting on the
world toady and is enforcing that we must do something before God?s creation is all but lost. He
tells us that we must show respect for the environment and living our faith in relation with God?s
creation. Everyone is affected and everyone is responsible. It is an issue that cannot be ignored
and action must be taken to preserve something that is unique to humanity. Organisations are now
being set up to help raise awareness of these issues that are present in our modern world.
Catholic organisations such as CARITAS Australia are heavily involved in the frontiers of the
environment. They help safeguard the environment by informing and educating communities in
isolated areas the impacts of our actions on the environment and how we can help to protect it.
Other organisations such Catholic Earthcare Australia promote understanding among people that
God?s creation is something that is sacred yet endangered in our modern world and must be
protected and sustained for present and future.

It is our duty however to help carry out actions that will help cease the threats that are present to
our environment. By actively participating in previously mentioned organisations we can all put
something back into the environment. Planting trees is one of many steps that we can all do.
Sensibly turning off switches or not using cars are also other ways to actively protect our
environment. Perhaps one of the most successful ways to help prevent environmental damage is
to discuss to others the issues relating to our environment. This way people can become informed
and aware that there is only one environment and it is our duty to protect it.

Abandonment of babies

Nowadays„ a disturbing social malady has surfaced. Due to unwanted pregnancies, the number of babies being
abandoned has proliferated. This heinous act, as termed by many, must be looked into seriously and measures ought to
be taken by all parties to curb this problem.

As teenagers are impressionable, impulsive and immature, more often than not, they indulge in sexual activities without
realizing its consequences. Therefore, to blame and punish them entirely of this dire situation may well seem too
simplistic, as they might not have understood their own wrong doings. On the contrary, what we must do is to educate
them about sex. The school, for instance has to play a more active role in educating the students about sex. Though it
may seem rather embarrassing to discuss sex, especially to those who are conservative in thought, prevention is always
better than cure. it might be too late to impart this knowledge on safe sex once they get pregnant. Therefore, student must
be taught how to practice safe sex to avoid unwanted pregnancies and hence avoiding abandonment of babies as well.

Apart from that, various social groups must play a more active role in society. For a start, these organizations must have
qualified counselors who are able to give professional advice to young couples who have got themselves in trouble. This
is imperative as one wrong spoken word could lead to mere harm than good. They should never despised them but on the
other hand always willing to lend a hand to help take care of the baby. Furthermore, these groups should have
connections with adoption agencies in case any love child is to be put up for adoption.

As for parents, they must try to adopt an understanding and more tolerant attitude towards their children. Many a time,
teenagers abandoned their babies to avoid being ostracized by their families. Panic-stricken, it is not surprising to find
teenage mothers indulging in such unimaginable acts. Therefore, parents, being the closest kin to their children must learn
to accept the bitter truth. They should never disown their children. On the other hand, they should always be there to help
and support their children in any situation that comes along. Once this parent-children relationship is established,
pregnant teenagers would have no problem approaching their parents for help and hence babies world not be abandoned.

Last but no least, religious teachings need to be instilled in every teenager. They need to be taught that there is a time for
everything under the sun and that they must refrain from premarital sex as taught by the Roman Catholic church to
prevent this undesirable situation of babies being thrown in rubbish bins, drains, and other places. Coupled with religious
teachings too, teenagers will learn to realize that it is sinful to abandon babies. With this conscience, there would not be
so many cases of unwanted pregnancies. Subsequently, abandonment of babies reduces naturally.

In conclusion, abandonment of babies in nothing new. However, the situation has exacerbated throughout there years.
Thus, we all should do our part in tackling the problem more effectively before it gets out of hand.
