Caring for struggling single moms

Cindy*, age 18, was referred to Gateway by another gospel ministry. She is four months pregnant and
having problems with her parents. After the police were called, Gateway and a Christin police officer
known to us assisted Cindy. We referred her to a local group home for girls for emergency housing.
Please pray that Cindy trust Christ. She had been involved in a Christian youth outreach a couple of
years ago and we believe that made an impression on her.

Abayomi * is 27 and from Nigeria. The father of her baby left her. She is a believer. She came to
Gateway - Irvington in January and is due in August. Five years ago, Abayomi had an abortion
because her pregnancy would not have been accepted by her family. She now intends to raise this baby
alone and is involved in a church in New Jersey. Marylou gave her a copy of the book we often give to
post abortive women, I’ll Hold You in Heaven. We referred her to a local hospital for prenatal care
and will follow up to see that she is receiving help for her baby.

Kendra * is 21 and single. She and her young son are being helped by a state agency. Her social
worker is the daughter of a longtime Gateway volunteer. She no longer can live with family in the
area. We were able to give her advice on her need for emergency housing. We are thankful for her new
job and her desire to be a good mom. Last year we had the opportunity to minister to her boyfriend,
the father of her young son. Pray that we may have continued contact with this young woman.
