DRAWING - Back To Basics
SUGGESTED SUPPLY LIST
Don't feel you need to purchase everything on the list. If you
prefer different drawing materials, it’s OK. Use what you like.

b Drawing board
You will need a light weight rigid surface to hold and protect
your drawing. My board is 22” wide by 25” high. I would not
recommend going much smaller. A large piece of foam board
or masonite is an inexpensive alternative.
b Drawing materials
I will be using PRISMACOLOR® Terra Cotta and white
colored pencils. I also like CREATACOLOR MONOLITH
woodless graphite pencils (soft 4B, 6B or 8B)
But use what you like to draw with.
b Kneaded rubber eraser
Very fun to play with and yes, it also erases.
b Pencil sharpener
I like KUM® Automatic Long Point, available at most art
supply stores. Not expensive and it gives a razor sharp point.
b Drafting brush
Any type of brush to keep your drawing surface clean
b Drafting or painters tape
b Paper
I will bring CANSON® and Stonehenge® paper that you may
purchase for $3 per sheet or bring your own paper. Be sure
the paper is dark enough so that the white colored pencil
will show up.
b Small Sketch Pad
Will only need a couple of sheets for some exercises.
b Photo references
Bring a good quality photo to draw from. I will also have
back up photos that you may use. Don’t bring a portrait.
The following Saturday, May 19 our focus will be
drawing the portrait.
b Chocolate
Useful for rewarding yourself when things are going well or
consoling yourself when it’s not.
