Notes
Transfer Markt value him at £15m.

His current deal runs out at the end of June, 2018.

There is no agency or agent information on the database.

Player unlikely to be available in January because his club are top of the Russian league for the first time in a generation, so even
three or four times his current market value might not be enough to sign him. Spartak may even resist any bid and take a reduced
fee in the summer if he helps them to the league title.

MAIN ABILITIES
RUNNING WITH THE BALL
Rating: 1 is Jan Molby at his top weight, with those old balls on a muddy pitch; 10 is Lionel Messi.

Sample size: 15 mins of clips. (Around 100)

Can dribble with both feet, and has spent plenty of time on both flanks. Has individual tricks to beat a player, or glides past with
his low centre of gravity and acceleration over a few yards.

He's a perfect fit for Klopp's Liverpool. As mentioned in the opening paragraph, his close control and ability to go on the outside
or drift inside makes him a tricky customer.

His first touch is better than Mane's, at times comparable with Lallana. Little pirouettes to get away from a man, but significantly
fewer Cruyff turns per 90.

It's not just his pace, but how he uses changes of pace to beat defenders. Often slowing down as the ball approaches him,
spinning off quickly, accelerating then suddenly slowing down before sprinting again. Uses this more than skills to beat the
full-backs.

ATTACKING ABILITY
This is focused more on shooting/finishing skills.

Rating: 1 is a traffic cone, 10 is Luiz Suarez and Billy Liddell's scientifically-inspired striker spawn.

Sample: Every goal he's ever scored on the database. 67 of them.

Little dink over the keeper running onto a throughball? Check.

Free kick curled over the wall into the top corner? Check.
Penalties? Check.
Slide-rule pass into the bottom corner underneath the keeper? Check.
Thunderball drive that nearly breaks the net? Check.
Poacher-like toe pokes when the ball rebounds off the keeper or post? Check.

Weakness? Aerial ability. Given his five foot nine frame, this is possibly obvious up against six foot plus centre-backs. However,
he's rarely in the box contesting duels, most of his work is on the ground, around the edge of the area - or running onto a pass in
behind the defence.

DEFENDING ABILITY
Rating: 1 is this current Liverpool team in the first half against Swansea or last 30 minutes against Bournemouth, 10 is our
performance at home against Man City.

Sample: 10 mins of individual 'pressing' and defensive 1 vs 1 clips. (approx. 75)

He's got the raw abilities to be a pressing machine, but switches off at times when tracking back with his runner.

The physicality of the Premier League could be a problem for him, and although he has bulked up, he gets more time in the
games for Holland; and is in the best team currently in the Russian league.

His energy to close down from the front though is excellent. In an organised quartet of Firmino, Coutinho and Lallana he could
cause havoc.

SHORT PASSING
Rating: 1 is a Sunday League player with bricks for feet after a 48 hour stag do, 10 is Xavi (Alonso or Hernandez).

Sample: 8 mins (50 clips)

Watching the clips when he's playing for Holland (used for the dribbling video) in particular you realise he's got the "Gini" about
his quick, one touch passing. Linking up with his back to goal; little flicks to open up defences; although he looks strong, on
occasion he can be physically pushed off the ball.

In terms of throughballs, he's certainly got the vision and weight of pass, although at times the accuracy can let him down.
However, it is important to remember that these types of passes are arguably the most difficult on the risk scale because they
often lead to big chances.

ATHLETIC ABILITY
PACE
Included in the accompanying article to this report is a photo of him with his FIFA ratings. His pace on that is 90.

My son informs me 90 is "lightening" so we'll go with that analysis.

One of his key strengths.

CHARACTER
LEADERSHIP
Hard to rate this based on the footage I've seen but here's some quotes from himself and former coaches and managers: (Source
ESPN)

Promes was thrown out of the Ajax academy at 16 years of age, with indiscipline cited as the reason. Here's what the player
himself had to say about it:

"I was too busy with other things. It's no secret that I had a big mouth. I thought that I knew everything better and struggled with
self-criticism."

Soon after this rejection, he signed for Twente, captaining their youth team to the title when Patrick Kluivert was the coach. Yet
first team opportunities were limited.

Former coach, Erik Ten Hag: "Quincy is very strong mentally. He had the will of power to improve. He had always been skilful on
the ball, but wasn't strong enough physically, so he spent a lot of time in the gym to become an athlete. He is clever and knows
how to achieve goals."

Ten Hag also coached Promes' close friend in football, Memphis Depay, and had this to say about the pair:

"Both have good technical skills, but Memphis is more explosive, while Quincy is better taking on players in one-on-one
situations."

TEAM PLAYER
Rating: 1 is that kid at school who LITERALLY never passed, thought he was George Best when in fact he was more Callum Best
and failed miserably 99% of the time but always told you about the 1%; 10 is Phil Neal.

Sample: all the clips viewed - although most of that was on-ball action and you get a better feel for this 'metric' watching a player
in full matches.

Rarely overdoes it, always trying to link up with players around him, takes set pieces and penalties, assists at a similar rate to
what he scores.

We're also talking about a wide forward who dribbles at exceptionally high rates, so we hardly want him recycling it around at the
back like a Guardiola back four at Anfield on New Year's Eve.

ASSESSMENT
Current Dutch boss Danny Blind:

"Promes plays every week in a very good league. In Russia he is almost always one of the best and I’ve picked him
based on what he shows at this club every week. He was the second top scorer of the Russian league last year. I watch
him play every week and he looks good."

COMMENTS
His passion away from football and his family is rap music, and composing his own raps.
