Project Title

Section 1: Rationale (Approx 100 words)

As I did Media in secondary school and having done loads of filming as a hobby, I already
have understanding of many things such as camera work and editing. Whilst in college I
have learnt a few more editing techniques and have learnt things such as the 60 degree
rule. This knowledge can really add to my skills and help me produce more professional
pieces. I have done some filming with people in my spare time which I don’t usually do,
and learnt how I should film them, e.g. camera angles. Therefore, I would like my final
project to be based on people, specifically teenage life and adventures.
Section 2: Project Concept (approx 200 words)

For my project I want to focus on teenage life, adventures and scenery and maybe
compare this to teenage life from different centuries. I have watched many shows based
around teenagers and would like to use the typical concept that they go out, have fun and
maybe cause trouble, however, I don’t want to force actions on the actors. I would like it to
be natural like a documentary. Recourses I will need is a camera, maybe a tripod which I
have at home. I would need to borrow a microphone/boom mic from college to make sure I
pick up clear audio.
I will have to research into how documentaries are done, research into typical teenage life
and maybe do a questionnaire for teenagers to fill out.

Section 3: Evaluation Methods (approx 50 words)

I will reflect and evaluate my work based on my camera skills and editing techniques. I will
document photographs whilst filming of my actors and surroundings. I will also document
by taking screenshots from within the film itself.
I will record my decision making on my Weebly as I go, therefore at the end of production I
can look back on all the different things I did and work out how I could improve, or what I
would do different. I will write a rough plan of what I would want to get out of filming and to
evaluate, compare that to what my outcome is. My aim is to capture natural teenager life
in Westbury, this means having to film without notice (but obviously permission
beforehand).

When working in collaboration with others, you should comment on how this may impact
either positively or adversely and outline the steps you can take to minimise disruption to
your own progress.

Proposed Research Sources and Bibliography (Harvard Format)

I will use sources such as television channels, websites like “shortoftheweek.com” and
“kickstarter” to watch other teen documentaries and find a theme I’d like to use in my own.
I will also create a questionnaire for people to fill out to get information on how other
teenagers live their life so I’m not just focusing on my friends lives.
Where appropriate you should use the Harvard system of referencing.
The bibliography should be continuously updated as the project progresses.

Project Proposal – Unit 08

Project Action Plan and Timetable

This section provides you with an opportunity to outline your planning and organisation over a period of
weeks, and the activities you will need to carry out in order to successful complete your project within the
agreed time frame. It is important that you consider how you will balance ambition, time and realism in the
realisation of the project.
This should include what you are going to do, how you will do it and by when. The more time and thought you
give to
planning your project, the more successful it is likely to be. Remember to include: time spent sourcing
materials,
questionnaires, access to workshops, tutorial and peer group feedback, and where you will incorporate
independent study
