Calibrated Digital Sensor for Relative Humidity

and Temperature

The HYT 271 has been specially developed for mass

applications as automotive projects or in household
appliances. The component fulfills highest quality
requirements and offers crucial advantages compared to
monolithic solutions.
The unique characteristic features are achieved through the
combination of a precise, capacitive humidity sensor with
the high integration density and functionality of an ASIC in
the form of a micro system technology module on a ceramic
substrate.
By virtue of the integrated signal processing, the innovative
humidity sensor directly delivers the physical dimensions of
relative humidity and temperature over the I2C compatible
interface in digital form. Through the addressing system, up
to 126 sensors can be operated at a common, 4-core bus.
During manufacturing, the sensor has been calibrated up to
10 humidity points at three different temperatures. Both the
temperature drift and linearity error are compensated with
the ASIC, therefore further complex calibration or
compensation is not necessary on the user side and the
components are fully interchangeable with each other.
The applied high performance polymer in combination with
the special layer construction offers outstanding
performance results and is stable against chemical effects
as well as dew formation. This results in excellent long term
stability during continuous use even in critical operational
areas. Because of the wide measuring range from 0% to
100% rH and fast response behaviour, the components are
suitable for a wide variety of applications including
customised special applications.
The plug-in type calibrated module has SIL-connection pins
with a pitch of 1.27 mm which are compatible with
commercial plug connectors. Thus, the sensor without
calibration is fully interchangeable.

Digital Humidity Sensor

The areas of application for the component are versatile.

Besides automotive applications, there are, for example,
household appliances ("White Goods"), building
instrumentation, meteorological instruments and above all,
industrial applications are typical application areas to name.
An extensive evaluation kit with component samples,
detailed data sheet, physical fundamentals and application
notes are available for the sensor.
Other variants, for example, as SMD version are also
available on request. Customised adaptations and OEM
versions are also available for relatively low quantities.
