CHAPTER I

INTRODUCTION

1.1. BACKGROUND

Cirebon is a city located in the province of West Java,

Indonesia. The located at 6 ° 43'LU 108 ° 33'BT / 6.683 ° S 108.55 °
northern coast of Java, the eastern part of West Java, with an
overall area of 37.54 km2 and is divided into 5 districts and 22
villages. Cirebon city lies in a strategic location and become a node
of transportation movements between West Java and Central Java,
as well as a meeting point of three lanes major cities in Indonesia,
namely Jakarta, Bandung and Semarang. All modes of transport
were either land, sea, air and integrate with each other to support
the development of the city of Cirebon.

Cirebon city's economy is affected by a very strategic

geographical location and characteristics of natural resources so
that its economy is dominated by manufacturing, trade, hotels and
restaurants, transport and communications and services. Cirebon
city has 13 buildings plazas and malls and 12 traditional markets.

The need for a convenient place to shop, located, clean, fully

equipped and very comfortable in the interest of the public and
tourists who come to this city. By because it is much built
supermarket by investors aiming to answer all the needs of today's
society. Shopping business in the city of Cirebon is the right thing
because it has the advantage of prospective business. As
evidenced by the number of shopping industry in Cirebon.

PT. Trans Retail Property saw the potential in this field,

therefore PT. Trans Retail Property build up a Shopping Center in
 the city of Cirebon, with a different concept from other shopping
centers, Transmart Carrefour is the place to spend a holiday
recreation for children and families.

In a lecture at universities, especially at the University of

Swadaya Gunung Jati Cirebon, student of Civil Engineering at the
students and are prepared to face a variety of real issues in the
world of construction, Events Job Training which has been done is
an application of what `obtained at lectures, field we can see
directly on the process, as well as the way in the development
phase of the project that is being done.

1.2. PURPOSE PROJECT

Purpose and objectives of PT. Trans Retail Property build

Carrefour Transmart this is as the provision of all kinds of goods
and services needed by the community and support the economy,
create employment opportunities, especially for people in the city of
Cirebon.

1.3. PURPOSE OF WORK PRACTICE

The purpose of this practical work is to comply with one

completed the study in civil engineering courses of civil engineering
department at the faculty of engineering Unswagati.

Another goal of this practical work is to provide authentic real

world experience and students can apply and prove the theory that
in the can at the time of the lecture in the actual project work.
1.4. SCOPE OF PROJECT ACTIVITIES
The scope of activities in the project Transmart Carrefour
Cirebon:
a. Preparation
b. excavation and pile
c. foundation drilling
d. Excavated soil
e. Employment structure basement
f. Employment structure ground floor - 3rd floor
g. Work roof structure and Steel
h. Works of architecture
i. Works Mechanical and Electrical Engineering
j. Works end / completion stage

1.5. SCOPE OF DISCUSSION PRACRICAL WORK

To focus on a few things from a variety of things in practical
work, that will be discussed:

1.6. BENEFITS OF PRACTICE

1.6.1. Scientific Aspects (Theoretical)
this activity can be the mindset of students in the study,
observe, and understand the process happens on the field within
the scope of civil engineering. In addition, students can compare
the knowledge gained in the classroom with existing knowledge
in the field, that sometimes there are differences between the
two sciences.
 1.6.2. Technical aspects (Practices)
provide experience to students on the activities of the
implementation of the development of a civil engineering building
structure that will be equipped to work later.

1.7. PROJECT LOCATION

The project is Transmart Carrefour Cirebon on the main
highway, located in Jalan Dr.Cipto Mangunkusumo 234, Kesambi,
45 153, West Java.

1.8.1. Methods of Collection Data
In this practical work, data collection was done by using the
following:
1. Primary Data
Primary data is the main data which can be directly at
the project site and the data is taken by students without
going through an intermediary beforehand. So this data is the
original data which visits the students in the field. The primary
data source is:
a. Observation
That of direct observation and recording of
events that appear on the object under study in order to
obtain a concrete picture.
b. Interview
This data was obtained by interviewing the
person / people involved in project implementation.
Interviews can be performed on nearly everyone at the
construction site from the project supervisors, foremen
and even handyman / worker.
c. Documentation
Documentation is a photo or video taken by a
student during the implementation of practical work in
the field. Photo / video could be a reference in the
original field conditions.
2. Secondary Data
Secondary data is data obtained indirectly from the
project site, but from others, from the reports, archives and
documentation as well as other data relevant to the activities
of practical work on development project of Carrefour Cirebon
Transmart.

1.8.2. Data Processing

 Primary and secondary data that have been collected during
practice will work through the data processing such as
preparation, evaluation, and analysis to produce maximum
results.

this chapter describes the project background,
problem formulation, goals and objectives of the project, the
benefits of practical work, practical work method, scope of
work, project location, and report writing practical work
systematically.

1.10.2. Chapter Ii. Project Description

 project description chapter contains general data
Transmart Carrefour Cirebon project, project organization,
project management and project work program.

1.10.3. Chapter Iii. Material and Equipment Used

This chapter describes the materials and equipment
used in Transmart Carrefour Cirebon project. This explanation
includes the specifications and their use in the project.

1.10.4. Chapter IV. Phase Implementation of Work

This chapter describes the explanation of each stage
of work performed or observed during practical work.

1.10.5. Chapter V. Conclusions and Recommendations

This chapter describes the conclusions and
recommendations in accordance with the scope of practical
work. The conclusion of each statement should be supported
by the results of the analysis are illustrated in the previous
chapter and must be based on the study and conclusions.
