TCNJ
THE COLLEGE OF NEW JERSEY Career & Community Studies
March 2018
To Whom It May Concetn,
This letter offers my complete support of Ms, Julia McKinnies as she applies for a teaching position
within your district, I had the pleasure working with Julia as her supervisor in her capacity as a Student
Life House Mentor Assistant (HMA) within the Career and Community Studies (CCS) program. The
CCS program supports students with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities in achieving an
inclusive Liberal Arts college experience while exploring and promoting daily independence at The
College of New Jersey.
Thave been consistently impressed with Julia’s positive attitude, reliability, ambitions, and commitment
to our students, Julia was an outstanding CCS mentor, especially for last year’s freshmen class. She
served as a great role model as she successfully completed all her responsibilities as an HMA, while
always going above and beyond in promoting and assisting our students in being active and included on
‘campus as well as the local community. Simultaneously, Julia role modeled exemplary college behavior
as she exceled in her academic work, involvement on campus, other part time work, and personal life. She
is a stellar student with a 4.0 GPA and a member of the Sigma Tau Delta International Honor Society in
English. She continuously demonstrated great leadership as she was the co-founder and president of
‘TCNI's Love Your Melon club. Above all, Julia demonstrated genuine compassion for our students and
their success here at TCNJ. Her ability to connect with them and her demeanor, as well as management
skills, when teaching concepts such as social, conflict resolution, and daily independent living skills are
‘ruly superior. She has excellent written and verbal communication skills, is extremely organized and
reliable, and does wonderful when collaborating with other staff. Julia can also work independently and is
able to follow through to ensure that the job not only gets done, but is done extremely well.
| truly believe that Julia’s undeniable dedication and commitment makes her an ideal candidate for your
school district. She is a natural leader who can always be counted on by her students and fellow staif
‘members, and has become such as asset to our program. I am sure you can understand there are very few
words that [can offer that could truly capture the full essence of Julia, but it is my firm belief that any
opportunity that is offered to her will yield an even greater return for any district she is placed in as a a
teacher. Please feel free to contact me if you would like any additional information regarding this
outstanding young woman.
Sincerely,
‘Yvou NSU
