Dr. Kristofer Sippel

1st Grade Teacher
San Tan Charter School
3959 East Elliot Road
Gilbert, AZ 85234

Dear Dr. Kristofer Sippel:

In October of 2017, I attended an away game at San Tan Charter School for volleyball in which I travelled
there from my service internship at Irving Elementary School. I was at San Tan Charter to support a youth
from my church, where a first-grade teacher named Ms. Klingert came approached me on the bleachers
because she saw my service learning badge for Irving Elementary. She had explained to me that the school
was in need of another first-grade teacher for next fall, which is why I am emailing you today. With having
family live near by the school’s campus, I have been able to visually see the school develop and grow over
the years. Based on the school’s expansion in extracurricular activities that will begin in August of 2018, I
believe my experience working with young children in an elementary setting can benefit the school as
these changes proceed. As your attention may shift to the organization of the secondary education side of
things during your times of change, my hard work and readiness in serving children will keep your
elementary program that you have now more grounded as you move towards expansion.

After my discussion with Ms. Klingert at the volleyball game, I looked to the school’s webpage to study its
mission statement. I have noted that the school is a devoted organization that strives for collaboration
between students, teachers, and its community. With a motto like Love and Logic, the school wants to be
prepared for challenges and desires to come out of them stronger and better. As a second semester
freshman at Arizona State University, with this being my first semester studying Elementary Education
with an emphasis on the STEM program, I will be starting term 5 this coming fall. This is an example of my
dedication in my major of education. I have advanced quickly through my major because I am a hard worker
who loves children. In fact, I am the third oldest grandchild over 20+ grandchildren and I think it is safe to
say that I am the favorite of all my little cousins. All I can say is that I have a thing for kids in which I am
able to connect with them. My experience with children will benefit the school because I have an innovative
mind that can create new ways of teaching and problem solving that will benefit a variety of children in a
positive way.

Digging deeper into the school’s website I was able to find that a crucial part of teaching at San Tan Charter
is the connection that teachers have with students on a one-to-one level. I have a tremendous amount of
experience in this area from my internship at Irving Elementary School through my University Service
Learning course. With working at a Title-1 school, I was serving a community of children that were typically
struggling. Through working with these children one-on-one I was able to see a marvelous amount of
growth in each individual from the beginning of the semester to the end. Through this experience, I was
able to recognize first-hand how each child is different and how specific methods of teaching affect each
student. Knowing this knowledge and information at only 18 years of age has given me an advantage in the
educational field, and I would love to be able to bring my experiences to the table.

As San Tan Charter School continues to grow and expand in a positive direction, I would love to be apart of
the team and would love to follow-up with you on how my specific experiences can establish a firm
foundation for the school during expansion. I will be contacting your office in the next couple days to
schedule an in-person interview, but if you have any questions, please contact to me at (555)867-5309 or
email me at dlmill22@asu.edu. Thank you so much for you time, and I look forward to hearing from you
shortly.

Sincerely,

Demi Miller
