Mr. Jake Russel,

Chamberlain High school used to be a C school two year in a row, not it has been a D

school for the past two years, and we both know this is unacceptable. Rather than us maintaining

this score I have a few ideas that may help future scores. Chamberlain got a 27 in English

Language Arts Achievement, I believe using Word processing software a few times a week in

every English and Language arts class could be beneficial in bringing those scores up, since

word processing software’s offer high versatility and flexibility, so it could be used in any

English class. Chamberlain got a 24 in Mathematics achievement. I believe that spreadsheets are

not only beneficial to students in Middle, and Elementary schools, but could be beneficial to

those in High School as well. Spreadsheets software could be beneficial in our classrooms

because they make visual teaching demonstrations, allows students to create their own products,

supports problem solving, and sorting and analyzing data. Another form of technology that could

be useful is adding Smartboards into our schools to help students be engaged in all subjects.

Students get bored taking notes, then class work, then homework. They do those same things

every day. Smartboards are expensive, so it is unpractical to have one in every classroom but

having 3 or 4 in the media center that way we could have scheduled times to do them would still

be beneficial to our students. Chamberlain got a 35 in Science achievement. When I was in

college we had software programs that visualized our labs in biology. I found these to be very

effective, you had pretests, mini quizzes during the lab, and a end discussion at the end of the

lab. This way you are making sure the students stay on topic, processing the information, and

then retaining it. I believe we should incorporate these virtual labs in every science class so that

way student remains engaged in the virtual assignment instead of them getting distracted and

creating a serious problem in the actual lab. These are just a few of technological advances we

could make as a school to improve our test scores and ratings to ensure the best possible

education for our students.

Sincerely, Chase Taylor
