Universal Design for Learning (UDL):

Socrative provides students visual information. Additionally, the content can be modified to various
languages, fonts, and more customizable options. Through the types of questions and/or multimedia
integrated, Socrative can activate and supply background knowledge. Moreover, this technology tool provides
assistive technology to those with physical or visual impairments. Lastly, through the scores, the teacher can
provide students individualized instruction, feedback, and goals.

Describe the instructional activities that will occur PRIOR to the SRT activity and how you will introduce
the SRT activity.
Prior to the activity, the teacher will ensure that the students have received quality instruction regarding the
topic. This SRT activity will serve as a “ticket out the door” on the day of the lesson. I will introduce the
activity as the last part to our lesson sequence (hook, worktime, closing). I will ensure the students are aware
that this is a check for understanding.

Describe the purpose of the SRT activity (check all that apply):
☒ Assess prior knowledge ☐ Anticipatory set (Create interest in a topic) ☒ To illuminate common
misconceptions ☒ Formative assessment of content knowledge (for purpose of differentiation and
mastery for ALL students) ☐ Summative assessment of content knowledge ☐ Test preparation
☐ Survey/Poll ☐ Discussion starter ☐ “Homework” collection ☐ Other (please explain):

Briefly describe what will happen DURING the SRT activity:

Since this is a formative assessment, students will complete this activity independently. As they complete it,
the teacher will provide supplemental aid to those who need it. The materials needed are a device for every

student, a device for teacher, and a projector for the classroom. This activity will last until every student
finishes the questions.
Type of questions/prompts used in this activity (check all that apply):
☒ Multiple choice ☒ Multiple select ☒ True/False ☐ Yes/No
☐ Short open-ended response or fill-in the blank ☐ Longer open-ended response

Right/Wrong answers: Will there be right/wrong answers to these questions?

☒ Yes ☐ No
☐ Mixed (Some will have correct answers, other will not.)
Immediate corrective feedback: Will you pre-select correct answers to some of all of the questions and
display correct response to the class after the SRT activity?
☒ Yes
☐ No
Why or why not?
I will do this for students to reflect on the correct answer.
Describe what will happen AFTER the SRT activity?
After the activity, I will analyze the data and modify instruction to meet students’ needs.
How will the data be used?
The data collected is the answers and grade from each student. The data provided will be analyzed and will
serve as support for future lessons. Since this activity will be done the day of the lesson, it is only used as a
formative assessment to assess understanding and quality of lesson therefore the data will not be shared with
students but any misconceptions will be addressed in future lessons. Students will view these questions in
future lessons and will build on their knowledge. This data will used to differentiate instruction by providing
basis for support materials, groups, and activities.

Describe your personal learning goal for this activity.

From this activity, I’m observing how students perform on technology versus on paper. Are they more
engaged? Is there more pressure to finish quicker? How do the results compare to other assessments? I hope
it will help students learn by engaging them in active learning.
Reflective Practice:
The activity I created impacts student learning by attending to students’ visual or physical impairment needs.
Also, student engagement and enthusiasm for learning could be impacted by implementing technology.
Based on the data provided, if necessary, I will extend the lesson by teaching addition and subtraction within
10. Other technology tools that could enhance this could be Kahoot! Or Quizlet study cards.
