Notes

Coverage
This series includes Government and Non-Government shipments by
vessels into and out of selected ports in the United States, both
contiguous and non-contiguous. The statistics exclude shipments
between U.S. ports (Jones Act trade). Note - These statistics include transshipment cargo.

This report only includes loaded containers and empty containers that involve a freight charge
(i.e. a company has bought empty containers and are moving them)

Coast Key - We have included both a "Coast" column for determining trade by geographic region
of the United States. (2) This list is now alphabetical order.
P - Pacific | A - Atlantic | G - Gulf of Mexico | AK - Alaska | GU - Guam | HI - Hawaii | PR - Puerto Rico

This series show statistics in twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) and Metric Tons.
A TEU is a nominal unit of measure equivalent to a 20’ x 8’ x 8’ shipping container.
