ii. Ask about and give detailed information about their
favourite type of sports by giving at least 3 reasons for their
choice.

 Pupils work in pairs and think of the steps needed to conduct a
simple interview using indirect questions.
iii. POST-LESSON :  Pupils work in pairs to interview their friends about their favourite
sports based on the steps they have agreed on.

out the meaning, synonym and sentences for 8 words taken
from the text.

i. PRE-LESSON :  Pupils look at the flyers on marathons given by the teacher and
they share their experiences about participating in one.
ii. LESSON :  Pupils are assigned into 4 groups and each group is given 2 words
DEVELOPMENT from the blog to work on.
 Pupils are shown how to check out the meaning, synonyms and
sentence examples by using dictionary and thesaurus.
 Each group works on their own word and find out the 3 pieces of
information required and create a word card for each word.
 Pupils share their word card in groups.
 Using the words they have learnt, pupils read the blog and
complete a graphic organiser.
iii. POST-LESSON :  Pupils design a simple flyer using the specific information found in
the blog.

map given.
 Pupils use a dictionary to find the meaning and sentence examples
of 7 words.
iii. POST-LESSON :  Teacher provides a list of sentences using the 7 words given earlier.
 Pupils need to find suitable words from the text to replace the 7
words in the sentences.

meaning of 5 unfamiliar words from the text.

 Pupils share their opinions with the class.

DEVELOPMENT  In pairs, pupils identify the main ideas in the text and complete the
mind map by giving at least 3 causes and 3 effects of the dengue
fever.
 Pupils list down 5 unfamiliar words from the text and find at least
3 meaning of the words correctly.
 Pupils use hardcopy dictionary and online dictionary to find the
meaning of the words and share them with the class.
iii. POST-LESSON :  Pupils discuss in groups about ways to prevent dengue fever and
present their findings to the class.
