Installation Manual
Introduction:
Purpose: Primavera 6.0 is used for scheduling and managing both small and
large projects. This guide will show you how to install the student version of Primavera
6.0. This software will be used in MAE554, Project Management, and in businesses
around the country.
Necessary Tools:
• A computer running Windows 2000, Windows 2003, or Windows XP.
• A network interface card
• Active networking software
• Primavera 6.0 CD-Rom
Recommendations: Before installation close any programs on your computer
and save any unsaved work.

Installing the Educational Version of Primavera 5.0


1. Start by inserting the Primavera 6.0 CD into your computer’s CD Rom drive, a
startup guide should appear.
Note: if this screen does not appear double click the CD drive from the “My
Computer” folder, and then double click SETUP.exe.
2. Click the “Install Client Applications” from the introductory screen.

3. Click “Next” on the welcome screen that pops up.

4. Enter the product code EC C01 as shown below:

5. Accept the User License Agreement

6. Choose “Primavera Stand Alone” and then click “Next”

7. Select a location for the program files then click “Next”


Note: It is recommended that you accept the default location.
8. Select a location for the common files then click “Next”

9. Check the box for sample projects if you would like sample projects installed and
click “Next”

10. Select the folder in which the Primavera icons will be stored in the Start Menu.
Note: Accepting the default will place the icons under Programs → Primavera
11. Click “Browse” and locate the LICENSE.txt file located on the CD then click
“Open”.

12. Click “Install” to begin the installation. The following screen should show the
status:

Note: Installing Primavera will also install Microsoft SQL Desktop Engine
(MSDE), and this requires the validation of Primavera databases.
13. Click “Next” on the “Validate Database Connection” screen for PMDB. This
should cause the validation successful screen to appear.
14. Click “Finish” on the “Connection Successful” screen.

15. Click “Next” on the “Validate Database Connection” screen for MPMDB. This
should cause the validation successful screen to appear.
16. Click “Finish” on the “Connection Successful” screen.

17. Click “Finish” on the “Install Wizard Complete” screen.


18. Close out all other applications and save all your current work.
19. Restart your computer.

20. Test the connectivity by starting Primavera, Start → Programs → Primavera →
Project Management.

21. Enter the default login name “Admin”, and default password “admin.”

If the program starts and you get this screen:

then you have successfully installed the student version of Primavera 6.0
