To become a successful and professional engineer, the first step an engineer must have is that
when graduating from an engineering degree with a recognized qualification, the engineer must
register with BEM as a graduate engineer. This is to ensure that this engineer is properly
recognized as an engineer in malaysia because through this BEM itself, they are provided with
training and experience by their own professional engineer at least 3 years before occupying a
professional interview and examination to qualify as a professional engineer with BEM and are
eligible to use the title Ir. Therefore, a person who has completed a degree in engineering must
meet every condition and protocol set in BEM. Following the above title is one of the factors and
conditions that a professional engineer must follow. One of the other requirements stipulated in
the Engineering Act (BEM) is as follows:

trustees, and shall avoid conflicts of interest or the appearance of conflicts of interest.

b. Engineers shall not undertake any assignments which would knowingly create a potential
conflict of interest between themselves and their clients or their employers.
c. Engineers shall not accept compensation, financial or otherwise, from more than one party for
services on the same project, or for services pertaining to the same project, unless the

meantime, professional engineers will obtain approval and validation as a trustworthy engineer
by the community not only on paper but based on the individual's attitude. Regardless of

taken care and carefully to become a professional worker or engineer. Therefore as a newcomer
engineer especially at the field, these problem and action should seriously take note as a beginner
so that people will respect and trust you in the future.

Therefore, as a precautionary steps, we must be proficient and sensitive about the working
principle, especially when dealing something with protocol.
