i. Understand with little or no support specific information and
details about smart phones in a dialogue by responding to 4 out
of 6 true/false statements correctly.
ii. Understand the sequence of activating a smart phone by
rearranging the 7 steps of instruction into the correct order.

i. PRE-LESSON :  Teacher shows pupils pictures of different smart phone models.
 Pupils share their experiences on using these models.
ii. LESSON :  Pupils listen to a dialogue on how to activate a smart phone and
DEVELOPMENT respond to the true/false statements given.
 Teacher discusses the answers and replays the dialogue.
 Pupils then listen again to sequence the jumbled-up steps on how
to activate a smart phone.
 Teacher plays the dialogue once more for pupils to check their
answers.
iii. POST-LESSON :  In pairs, pupils assume the role of a smart phone operator and a
customer to practice using the sequence earlier to activate a smart
phone.

i. PRE-LESSON :  Teacher shows pupils a short clip on the dependence on smart
phones in daily life.
 Pupils talk about the effects of relying too much on a smart phone.
ii. LESSON :  In groups, pupils discuss and list down 5 rules of using a smart phone
DEVELOPMENT at home.
 Pupils present their work in groups by having each member take
turns to explain their rules and move around the class to ask other
groups about their rules.
 Once the presentation has ended, teacher gets pupils to give at least
1 reason for a rule their friends have presented.
 Pupils share their reason(s) to the class and have their friends share
the supposed reason.
iii. POST-LESSON :  Pupils discuss the relevance of such rules in their homes by
determining if they can be enforced.

ii. Guess the meanings of unfamiliar words by matching 3 out of 5
words with their correct meanings.

i. PRE-LESSON :  Teacher asks pupils about the advantages of using a smart phone.
 Pupils respond by giving their opinions.
ii. LESSON :  Pupils read an article on the advantages and disadvantages of using

 Pupils transfer the advantages and disadvantages of using a smart
phone onto a graphic organiser.
 Teacher picks out 5 words from the article and asks pupils to match
them to the given meanings and sample sentences.
 Pupils read the article again and use the sample sentences given to
match the words to their meaning.
iii. POST-LESSON :  Pupils construct one simple sentence for each word.

they would want to see in a smart phone.
ii. Spell 5 most high frequency words accurately in their
description of the future smart phone.
iii. Connect at least 10 out of 15 sentences into two coherent
paragraphs using basic coordinating conjunctions and pronouns

i. PRE-LESSON :  Teacher shows a review of a smart phone.
 Pupils read the review and give one reason for buying or not buying
that smart phone.
ii. LESSON :  In pairs, pupils imagine and discuss 2 changes they would want to
DEVELOPMENT make in a future smart phone and write them in a bubble map.
 Pupils exchange their ideas with other pairs. As they do so, they
check each other’s spelling of high frequency words.
 Teacher distributes a paragraph of disconnected sentences on the
future of smart phones.
 Pupils read the text and then work in groups to connect the
sentences into two paragraphs with basic coordinating conjunctions
and pronouns.
 Pupils crosscheck their work with one another.
iii. POST-LESSON :  Pupils identify the features of the future smart phone in the text and
add on to the bubble map earlier.
