Skill checks and clue tokens
Skill checks are made by rolling as many dice as the investigator has in the giv
en skill, modified by relevant modifications. Each 5 and 6 is a success. Usually
it only takes one success to pass the skill check.
One may discard any number of clue tokens after a skill check to roll one
extra die per token. But clue tokens are also used for sealing gates, at a cost of
five clue tokens per gate.

Winning and losing Monster abilities
