The 4x4 Action Group will be entering a team in 2016.
We would like to enter a minimum of 10 cars to this year.
Please only enter if you can commit to participating.
There are 4 classes SWB Standard, LWB Standard, SWB Modified, LWB
Modified
The competition will be more family and lifestyle orientated this year.
Obstacles will be split into two a 100 point option and a 75 point
options.
Yes you will be driving in some cases open diffs, but use the Jimny size
to your advantage and don't be greedy.
There will be 4 qualifying events all held at Mcarthy Rhino Park.
There is a once off Entry fee of R300 payable on the day when
qualifying. The rest of your participation is FREE.
Dates are as follow.
6th February 2016

13th February 2016
5th March 2016

12th March 2016
The top 6 drivers of each club will continue to the rest of the Challenge
during 2016.
Your vehicle must be roadworthy.

Driver must carry a valid drivers license.
Each vehicle must have a fire extinguisher with a current date or
services until the end of the year
1L of water per occupant
"Decent" recovery gear. strap / shackles / gloves
"Decent" fist aid kit.
As more information becomes available we will post it here.
If you have any questions please post them here, we will answer them
as soon as we can...
If you are interested in driving for the 4x4 Action Group, please let us

I am willing to be a navigator for someone. I have navigated in 2012 and

2013.... with very little success, our best was one 6th place and we each
won a picnic backpack set. I'm sure this is better than Manny has
done...... :D :D :D
PS - the car was a JKU and although it was very capable and completed
each obstacle, it was just too damn long for the paaltjies ;D

new fire extinguisher in Dec 2015, will check the date to see if it is valid
until the end of the year. Also have a decent first aid kit.

The vehicle must have its original manufacture spec engine, drive

Non Standard Vehicle ***

another club if they let you join :)

You start off with 100/75 points and get penalised for:
Stopping -10 points

Roll back -10 points
Hitting pole or banner tape -25 points
etc.

Awesome day, well done Martindj and Gympee. Two relative newbies to
offroading and they did damn well. All I can say to Manny is that a
Navara can go offroad.... ;D

must say, we enjoyed it, no complaints, learned a hell off a lot, damn
what an eye opener, have never experienced so many difficult obstacles,
the gates were extremely narrow and difficult for a LWB,
Considering to enter the 4th event, and correct some of my mistakes,
then I will have proper rock sliders, my side steps cost me dearly at
obstacle 4.
safety first two vehicles had a close call at obstacle 4, entry very tight
and it really rocks you.

We will have to see how the next process pans out after this coming
weekend's last qualifying event.
Then we are at the start of the Elimination Rounds. Getting drafted into
these has been the objective until now.
If I read the rules correctly, the top 6 point scorers per club will go
through to the elimination rounds.
If there are 10 clubs, that means 6 per club. But we do not seem to have
10 full clubs written in. So it will be top 6 points per club that have 10 or
more competitors entered. Regardless of SWB or LWB. And as was
explained at the events, this will probably only be Standard Vehicles.
Lets for example say 7 clubs had 10 entries each. That means 42
positions out of 60 already filled.
The allocated top six per club will then be removed from the hat.
As for the rest of the entries we will probable see a 34% / 66% split
between SWB and LWB ( per the ratio of entries). And the rest of the
entries will all be pooled. And ad per the example, 6/7 will be selected
from the remaining top score SWB (34%) and 12/11 will be the top score
LWB vehicles (66%) to make up the balance of the 60 vehicles.
There were more than 60 Standard vehicles entered, so I personally
cannot see that any non- standard vehicles will get included into the
elimination group.
Maybe that should have been more clearly explained from the beginning.
I just picked it up from the speeches at the briefing and prize givings.
So the competitors should look at their standings and see if they are
safe to make the top 6 in their club, or if they have enough entries to be
counted as a "club" of at least 10 entries. As for the rest, good points
will get you in regardless.

No Garreth, we had this group together within a week right after the
invitation went out. And except for four of us, the rest of them have
never competed in this event before, so we have not grabbed any
regulars.

2016 Bridgestone Challenge

The 4x4 Action Group will be entering a team in 2016.

We would like to enter a minimum of 10 cars to this year.

Please only enter if you can commit to participating.

There will be 4 qualifying events all held at Mcarthy Rhino Park.

Dates are as follow.

6th February 2016

5th March 2016

Your vehicle must be roadworthy.

As more information becomes available we will post it here.
