generation and pollution associated with growing human population.

Stage 2- Assessment
Assessment FOR Learning (formative) Assess the students during the learning to help determine next steps.
Checking their progress and understanding of the concept throughout the lesson
Assessment OF Learning (summative) Assess the students after learning to evaluate what they have learned.
Students will be required to submit a thorough plan for how to reduce the amount of waste within the school
and the community, including examples, resources, and challenges that may be faced. This will be graded
based on the student’s research and the understanding they gain and show of the impact of pollution.
At the end of one of the classes (March 6th) walking back from the golf course, students will be asked to
collect garbage along the way and place it in waste bags. When we get back to school, they will be able to see
just how much garbage is incorrectly thrown away and accumulates in our environment.
Main Procedures/Strategies:
As a research project, sin groups of 3-4, students will be asked to research and come up with a plan to make
the school and community more eco-friendly and anti-waste.
They are required to design their own plan and a way to implement the plan within the school and
community.
The project must include:
Impact of pollution on society
How humans contribute to the pollution issue
Clear plan on steps/processes that can be used to change this within school and community
Examples
Resources available
Groups will have to create a visual representation of some sorts to share their findings and plan with the
class.
The introduction and start of the project will be completed on the 7th, with presentations happening on the
14th.
Closing of lesson:
Each of the groups will have to present their ideas and plan to the rest of the class.
