Mrs. Beverly Brostek and I have recently completed an evaluation of Glynn Middle
School’s library media program. Together, we used guidelines from the Georgia
Department of Education that are present in the 2016 Judy Serritella Exemplary Library
Media Program Self-Evaluation Rubric. One can see that this rubric includes 6 different
categories with 21 indicators and 3 levels of proficiency. This rubric covers all aspects
and helps professionals decide how effective their program is by showing strengths
and weaknesses of areas needing improvement.
After evaluating Glynn Middle School’s program, we found that two indicators were at
the basic level of proficiency, nine indicators were at the proficient level, and ten
indicators were at the exemplary level. We were very pleased with the overall rating of
the school’s library program, however, would like keep moving forward and pursue
those exemplary levels. Below, you will see a report containing a plan of action to
move the two basic indicators into the proficient range and a suggestion for moving a
proficient indicator to the exemplary level.
For more information about the categories, indicators, and levels of proficiency, please
see the completed rubric that was used to evaluate the GMS library media program.
