1.0 OVERVIEW
This document lists the codes and standards applicable to the design of the Oregon LNG
Import Terminal.
The most significant codes and standards applicable to this Terminal are as follows:
• 49 CFR Part 193: Liquefied Natural Gas Facilities Federal Safety Standards. The
current revision of this set of standards is the April 2004 publication.
• 33 CFR Part 127: Waterfront Facilities Handling Liquefied Natural Gas and Liquefied
Hazardous Gas.
• NFPA 59A, Standard for the Production, Storage, and Handling of Liquefied Natural
Gas (LNG). The current version of this standard is the 2001 edition. The 2006 edition
has been issued and when accepted will supersede the 2001 edition. Accordingly,
Oregon LNG will meet the requirements of both the 2001 and 2006 editions. Where
requirements differ, the more stringent or conservative requirement will be satisfied
from each code.
Other codes and standards to be used in the design, construction and operation of the
Terminal are listed in the following section of this document. All applicable local codes and
standards that have not been included in the list shall be satisfied in the design.
For each code and standard, the current version as of the time of preparation of this
document is listed. The version to be used for design of the Terminal is follows:
• If at the time of design the code or standard version is the same as listed in this
document, the design shall be in accordance with the version listed.
• If at the time of design the code or standard version listed in this document has been
superseded, the appropriate version to be used shall be agreed to by Oregon LNG, to
ensure that the design features affected are within the plant design basis.
Where there is a conflict between an international standard and a local one, the most
stringent requirements shall apply.
