TASK 2 – POETRY SLIDESHOW
Due Term 1 week 11

You are being given the opportunity to write your own poem. Your poem must evoke a sense of place, time and
atmosphere, but the topic can be open. After you have written your poem, you will be required to find images from
the internet to create a slideshow and narrate your poem. You can use Windows Movie Maker for this and record
your voice over each slide and well as including the text on the slide. Your completed slideshow will be shown to the
class.

Your images must suit the theme and tone of your poem. It doesn’t have to tell a story, but it needs to suit the
atmosphere you are creating.

You must also submit the attached brainstorm, draft and reflection questions.

Your poem should be at least 5 stanzas long, a minimum of 4 lines per verse.

You will need at least 20 images to accompany this (it doesn’t have to be one line of verse per image though, be
creative!)

Checklist – all of the below must be completed and handed in. Please check off each item as you complete it:

o Brainstorm ideas for your poem on the attached sheet. Think about the mood atmosphere you want to
create. Come up with some imagery to evoke this atmosphere
o Write out a draft of your poem
o Annotate and highlight your draft, clearly indicating and labelling where you have used poetic devices and
techniques
o Answer the reflection questions in your booklet then type these up.
o Type up a final draft of your poem.
o Collect the 20 images from the internet conveying your theme, story or atmosphere. Sort your images by
size and type, open them, and save them into an images folder in your English folder (jpeg, medium
resolution)
o Open windows Movie Maker and import your images. Arrange them into order and add your poem text to
them (available from the software centre).
o Record your voice-over
o Send to your teacher in their requested format
