Student Response Technology Used:

Technology that students will use to respond to questions/prompts:
Computer Hand-held student response system (such as iRespond) Phone
Tablet (such as iPad Other wireless device (such as iPod Touch)
Describe the instructional activities that will occur prior to the SRS activity and how you will
introduce the SRS activity: Usually I implement a Kahoot! at the end of class before a test and right
before the test. I will then lead into the Kahoot! By telling briefly describing the content on the test. As I
set up the Kahoot! students will take out their phones to play or play on a friend’s device.
Describe the purpose of the SRS activity (check all that apply):
Assess Prior Knowledge Anticipatory Set (Create Interest in a Topic) To Illuminate Common
Misconceptions Formative Assessment of Content Knowledge (for purposes of differentiation and
mastery for ALL students) Summative Assessment of Content Knowledge Test Preparation
Survey/Poll Discussion Starter “Homework” Collection Other
Additional explanation of purpose (optional):

Type of session: Teacher-Paced Student-Paced

Identification of students:
Students will log-in so their individual scores will be available to you after the session
SRS activity will be anonymous
Briefly describe what will happen during the SRS activity (For example: What will students do? What
will the teacher do? What materials are needed? How long will the SRS activity take? The overview should
be a minimum of 2 paragraphs.):

STUDENT RESPONSE AND ASSESSMENT TOOLS
The teacher will start class with asking students to pull out their handheld devices to play the Kahoot! The
teacher will present the Kahoot! On to the SMART board and students will begin to login into the game.
Once the allotted time for logins is complete the teacher will begin the game. Once the game starts the
students will have 20 seconds to answer multiple choice questions. When time is expired for each question
or all students answered, the correct answer will be displayed on the SMART board. At these moment
students will see their response and take this moment to evaluate their answer. The teacher will also slow
the Kahoot! Down so the class can discuss the right or wrong answer, by adding new information,
reviewing the question, and hearing input from students. By having students discuss the answers as a class
it will create a learning environment where students will be able to grow their knowledge.

Usually the Kahoot! Will have about 40 questions and take an hour on the last content day, because we will
discuss the questions and answers as a class. However, on test days the game will be speed Kahoot! Where
students only have five seconds to put in their answer. At this point the students will know the content or
they do not.

STUDENT RESPONSE AND ASSESSMENT TOOLS
Immediate corrective feedback:
Will you pre-select correct answers to some or all of the questions and display correct response to the class
after the SRS activity? Yes No
Why or why not? I like to slow the game down once the answers are shown. It allows me to go over
content that students got wrong on the Kahoot! We can immediately go over the questions as a class and
see what we can do to better understand content.
Use of data: What data will be collected as a result of this activity? How will it be used and by whom?
(For example: Will information collected from this activity be used to award a grade? Will the individual
information collected be shared with students and/or parents to help them monitor individual progress?
Will you discuss the aggregate, anonymous data with the whole class to help them learn? Will you use data
to differentiate instruction for students, if so describe how.)
During the course of the Kahoot! Activity, the data that will be collected will be the correct and incorrect
answers that students will enter into the game. The data collected will be used by the teacher to assess
students that are struggling with content. The information collected from this activity be used to award
extra credit points to the test. The information collected will be shared with students after the game has
completed and also for the teacher to help them monitor individual progress, to see who needs extra help.
After the Kahoot! Activity the teacher will discuss the aggregate data with the whole class to help them
learn questions that a majority of the class missed. Usually the Kahoot! Is implemented into the lesson
plans twice, with the option for students to study on their own if they did well on the Kahoot! The first
time. The Kahoot! Will also help me differentiate to teach students that need extra help and that need
remediation.
Describe what will occur after the SRS activity: After the first time playing Kahoot! There will be a
discussion to go over content that students may have not gotten correctly. When we play the Kahoot!
Before the test then students will immediately get ready for the test.
Describe your personal learning goal for this activity. (For example: What are you trying that you have
not tried before? What do you hope to learn from this activity? How do you hope it will help students learn?
You must design something that will help you learn something new. Honor system!) :
My students love playing Kahoot! However, what I want to try that I have not tried before is implementing
higher depth of knowledge questions. When I have more time to concentrate of creating lesson plans and
activities, I will want to implement questions that are not just memorizing facts and concepts. I hope that
Kahoot! Will be a fun way that students will be able to prepare for the upcoming test. I hope that students
learn what they need help on before the test and what they need to go over.
Other comments about your SRS activity (optional): The students love playing Kahoot! And I
implement it every unit and enjoy administrating it as much as students love playing the Kahoot!
