Present simple The present simple is a tense of the present
that is used to talk about facts or general truths
that constitute habits, schedules or programs,
customs and routines of daily life.

The Present Simple sentences are formed

using the base of the verb in its infinitive form.
Recall that a verb in infinitive is made up of 2
parts: the particle "to" and the base that is the
verb in the present; for example in "to play" we
will only use the verb in present ("play") for the
formation of sentences. We will call this "Verb
in its Simple Form".

Example of present simple:

 She reads the newspaper every day.

 We come to school by bus.
 You work very hard.
 She likes to sit in the sun.
 We play in the park every day

Present progressive
The present progressive or continuous present
(continuous present) is the continuous form of
the present. In English it is used mainly for
actions that are taking place at the moment in
which they are spoken or that are only
happening temporarily.

There is/are There is and there are talk about the existence
or non-existence of things, as in Spanish there
is.
For example

 Hay algo de café en la cocina. = There is

some coffee in the kitchen
 Hay dos personas en el ascensor.
= There are two people in the elevator.

Frequency adverbs The main adverbs of frequency are: never,

hardly ever, seldom, rarely, occasionally,
sometimes, often, usually and always.

¿Where is the frequency adverb placed?

-Rules for the placement of frequency adverbs
in English:
1. Adverb of frequency after the subject and
before the verb: in all sentences the adverb of
frequency is placed after the subject and before
the verb, except when the main verb is a modal
verb or the verb to be.
Example: He never buys expensive clothes.

2. Adverb of frequency after the verb to be or a

modal verb: in sentences in which the main

verb is to be or a modal verb, the adverb of
frequency is placed after these.
Example: She is always late.

3. Adverb of frequency at the beginning of a

sentence: the adverbs of frequency sometimes,
usually and ocasionally, besides following the
previous rules, can go to the beginning of the
sentence.
Example: Sometimes I wake up at 3 pm.

Connectors in Are words that are used to connect phrases so

writing that they make some sense.

D. Planning the letter to your mother: You will write a letter to your mother
describing what your life is like after two months of moving with your
husband/wife/partner to a different country. You will include description of
the city, description of daily routine and description of a picture you sent.

breakfast with your husband / wife, go to work, come home at 12 for lunch, in
the afternoon take your pets for a walk, watch TV and go to bed sleep.

E. Drafting: After having decided about the city, the pictures and the actions,
the group will start writing the letter that will be divided into paragraphs:
Hello, mother, I'm fine, I hope you're okay too. I want you to know that I am happy
living here, it is a very nice place, the only thing I need to be completely happy is
that you are with me. I am writing to tell you about the city where I live, so you
know how my house is and what we do every day.

Now in the summer in the city of Montreal, Canada, you can see beautiful green
areas, where there are some trees and also benches to enjoy the landscape. The
streets of Montreal are beautiful and organized, there are many buildings and very
tall. The people are very friendly and they dress protected from the sun with their
hats or caps, the people are mostly blonde and very tall, they are also very kind.

The house is very large on two floors, on the first floor we find a large and beautiful
kitchen, a beautiful room with fireplace, television and carpets, there is also a large
dining room where we share every time we sit down to eat, on the right there is a
nice bathroom and on the left is the library, there is a door to go out where we find
a beautiful vase on top of a small table, around there is a green area and in front a
pool. Upstairs, on the second floor, we find a small room and three other rooms
completely furnished, one with bathroom, the small room is where they wash and
dry the clothes. Inside the house there are some pictures of animals and
landscapes.

We always get up at 7:00 in the morning, I brush while he bathes then we

exchange, after dressing we, prepare breakfast or sometimes we buy something to
eat on the way to work, we usually stay there until 12:00 noon . Then we go home I
prepare lunch and he washes the dishes, we rarely exchange paper because you
know he does not cook very well. After resting for a while, we went out to walk our

pets, you know that I almost never stop doing it. After the walk we return home to
make dinner, we watch television often until 9:00 at night and then we go to sleep.

Mother, this is all I do here, I hope you like the place where I live, you must come
to visit me, I miss you, I want you to be well, I love you.
