Planning Questions:

• How do you write a typical lesson plan?

First, I give a pre-test to determine what students know or do not know.

Second, I analyze the pretest to determine what need to be taught and which lessons will be taught
whole group or in small groups. Sometimes there are students who will need enrichment.

Third, I plan lessons based on where students are.

In my lessons, I have an engagement activity to catch students’ attention based on the objective
students will learn. I strategically teach the concept of I do, we do, and you do in Math and the 5E in
Science. Students are assessed and then a closure.

• In what ways do you plan to accommodate individual differences in the classroom? (typically)
I use hands on manipulative, organizers, partners, small groups, and etc. I also have a student that
requires more support than others do and I plan the activities he will do in my lessons.
I try to use as many of the learning style as possible in each lesson such as visual, auditory, and
kinesthetic.

Instructional Questions:

• What are some of your instructional challenges as a teacher?

Balancing time with work and personal life.

• What have been some of your instructional successes as a teacher? (ahah moment)

The concepts I thought would be harder for students to learn turn out to be the concepts they grasp
easily.

• What do you consider essential characteristics for successful teaching?

Planning, getting to know each student personally, knowing where each student are academically, and
assessing often.

• How often do your students receive social studies/science instruction?

Everyday

• Are you satisfied with the amount of time that you currently allot for social studies/science
instruction? Why or why not?

I guess it really does not matter how much time because I plan lessons that is short enough to teach
during the amount of time given while building off each lesson the next day.
• What possible social studies and science topics/units will be studied during the second week of
my clinical experience? What are possible goals/objectives I could address for my lessons? Do
you have any instructional resources that would support these goals/objectives?

In Science: You can chose the objective below you would like to teach in Science.

5.L.1.1 Explain why some organisms are capable of surviving as a single cell while others require many
cells that are specialized to survive.
5.L.1.2 Compare the major systems of the human body (digestive, respiratory, circulatory, muscular,
skeletal, and cardiovascular) in terms of their functions necessary for life.

Yes, there are materials and instruction materials. If you tell me what you need, I could answer this
question more accurate.

I will let you know about SS by Tuesday.

Classroom Management Questions:

• What motivation tactics do you use to ensure a desire to learn? (How do get students motivated?)

Making sure everyone understands and giving support to those who do not. I also like to give students’
choices and make learning fun through games. I sometimes give out rewards but not often.

• Tell me about the classroom community. What are the class rules? How is student behavior
monitored? In what ways is positive behavior reinforced? In what ways are negative behaviors
prevented? Tell me about the consequences for negative behavior.

We have class meetings every morning to address classroom problems and students come up with
solutions.

The entire school are on the PBIS system (positive behavior intervention support). A matrix was created
by the school and each classroom discuss the matrix everyday with the behavior desired for the entire
school. We give out charms based on the behavior we observed. At the end of the quarter, a reward is
given to students whom has collected the required charms.

I also do a whole group award system and I will share that with when you come to the class.

Negative behavior has a step plan for the entire school. Will share it with you

• Tell me about the pacing of lessons and interaction in the classroom- use of time- and other aspects
of time…wait time, and time using teacher talk and student talk. What works well with your
students? (Is work normally whole class, partner, or individual?)

It depends which subject. In science, we have labs so the students are doing more talking. Whole class
when topic s first introduced. Wait time is given as well.
