Work presented for the interaction with the companions of the group, for this a written text is
presented and feedback is made on the theme ratios and their influences on humanity

RELIGIONS AND THEIR INFLUENCE ON HUMANITY

Some people think that we do not really need religions since they are responsible for

ignorance and superstitious beliefs, and for murdering millions in the name of God.

Others claim that there is no morality without the religion and besides, many people feel

lost and scared in such a big world. spreading

Which view do you agree with? Use specific reasons and examples to support

your choice.

Each student writes a 15 to 20 sentences paragraph directly in the forum (please

do not attach files, so your mates and tutor can easily read your ideas) about the

topic described below. The paragraph must be an original composition using the

student’s own words. Extracts from webpages, other authors or books will not be

allowed.

1. JOSE DE LOS REYES DIAZ

It is very true that in the name of God the worst barbarities have been committed, but

these acts are committed by sick people, who have had lack in their lives, while

believing that God's love is great, father protects us, and we impels us to go out, and

also that we are special beings because we come from a much more special being who

is God.
1. When people believe that their goals are "sacred", it uses more energy and effort to

achieve the goals, so it acts in a focused and, ultimately, more effective in its

achievements.

2. The religion cannot be regarded as a matter of morality and good manners, for

Catholics, it may be, but for believers of other religions, it is a simple story told, but

with no practice in real life.

3. Religion has a sort of survival instinct, for although the central idea of religion

remains constant, (for example, Christianity has the Bible, sacred book to which they

respect and accept blindly, and in which are embodied the bases of his idealism)

4. Engels says that ... "all religions are nothing more than the fantastic reflection in the

human brain of the external forces that dominate their everyday life

5. Religion gives meaning to life, gives human beings a reason to live and a reason to

live correctly, as God indicates - and with happiness, giving also a "practical guide"

of moral norms, which help to live with this correction and happiness.

6. Religion, for some, is everything, for others, it is nothing, and for the latter, or they do

not care, or they are simply afraid to have an opinion about it.

7. The religion may be conceived by many as an aid to men to behave correctly, but I

believe that this can be done without having to believe in anything more than in

ourselves, for, man, even though he has been destroying the world little by little, has

done wonders, both in the branch of art and in the field of science and technology.

8. The Religion has not only stalled man in science, but also in the development of

thought. Religion does not teach us, nor does it open the way for us to choose, it
 simply shows us a single course, and forces us to follow it blindly, knowing in

advance what its destiny will be. Religion makes us stay in a fixed idea and remain

in it until our death.

9. The religion will always be a polemic subject and clear the most offensive criticism

and will come from those who claim to be very religious and who say they have the

arguments to prove it.

10. The Church is a divine institution and not a human whim. Men can found many other

churches and religions to gather and do good things. To these I respect and respect

those who seek the truth with sincerity I have admiration.

11. The Catholic Church is not just for a group or region. It is for all people, race and

nation. It is everywhere, it is the largest and well organized in the world. Not because

its members are more intelligent but because it is God's work.

12. In other Churches, there are a diversity of Biblical interpretations, only the Catholic

Church has taught the full truth with total consistency everywhere from the

beginning. Only she possesses the Deposit of Faith that contains everything that

Jesus revealed to us: The Bible and Apostolic Tradition.

13. Each one sets his eyes on what interests him: some look to the saints and see living

gospels worthy of being imitated. Others on the other hand only look at the bad

examples to justify the rejection of the Church

14. Today the Church is persecuted, despised and defamed everywhere. But his moral

authority remains an inextinguishable beacon of light that can be hated but not

ignored.
15. Religion is part of the culture of every human being, and represents a great pillar

within society, as it is the point of identification of ideals that have developed; it is

clear that it has been something transcendental, since it should not be left aside the

importance it acquires in the formation of each person.

Each one of us is free to believe in any religion they choose, or just refuse to be a

follower. Many people (including myself) are believers: some of them are attached

faithfully to that religion, others are more realistic. The important thing here is, if you

decide to believe in a god or other kind of divinity, make sure that this faith is conscious,
aware, with tolerance and respect for others who do not share the same religious

thoughts.

Unfortunately, science and religion are not really close. In history, it is known the

hunts of brilliant (revolutionary) minds made by the church, indeed, many wonderful

minds were killed or shut down because of religion.

Religion often provides a shoulder to cry for people who don't think beyond the limits

that others have created. When someone feels alone and is in a time of need, believe

that there will be someone out there that would listen to every complain to solve them,

but things are not that way. Because of a lot of people who believe that their destiny is

ruled by some kind of force, they do not make efforts to confront their problems, they

blame the others and hope for the good that can bring God. Actually, I do not know

where it says, but there is this saying: -Help yourself so I can help you- You can't let

everything be handled by God. You make your own destiny, and it is your hands the

chance to change things in your life. We all should be supportive with each other, and

not be dumb enough and do not tolerate the intolerance of others, if we all decide to

stop pushing away others with different thoughts, cultures, or believes, and start

learning and sharing our knowledge, we would be leaving in a better place… not a

perfect place, since neither of all of us is, in this huge world.

The religion as a human activity counts with believes and practices enrolling the

divinity, as it provides people with right behaving models, making individuals more self-
controlled. As it provides a moral behavior, people who considers themselves “religious”

tend to be more aware with their self-control. However, people who don’t see

themselves as religious, has also the thought of not hurting others as a main believe,

and they can also take control of their emotions. To be or not to be a good person, who

try to make good, is definitively not an aspect related with being religious.

 I think that the religions are important for the humanity because if you have
something to believe in life can be easier. For example: Religion gives us rules
for how the people need to be and act in the world. People usually believe that
after death you can go to the heaven of hell. These thoughts make the people
right behavior because religion helps them to act in accordance with the rules.

 Religions have an important influence in the politic especially the Catholic

religion. The pope and catholic priests are important symbols for the people. The
catholic religion has influence in the politics, if the priests say something about
any topic. It is probably that people believe in their words and they do things to
follow them. Also some of the wars have occurred because of religion.
Also something things happen in the name of the Lord, and many wars happened
because of religion.

 Young people don’t believe in Catholic or Christian religions now, they don't have
respect or credibility. Lately some priests or minister are involved in things that
are not proper for a person who speaks in the name of God. It is for this reason
some religions are losing their believers

 In the world we can find different religions and gods makings people to believe in
something and to explain miracles in life. That is important because definitely
people need to believe in something and have a proper behavior in their society.

It is important for people to think by themselves not because someone else with an

important charge in religion has an opinion, they will follow blindly. You have some

mistakes in grammar, the most important one is “papa” wich actually is “pope”.

I think that religion is a way of life for much people of all the world, for live whit

armory is necesary understand and to have open mind, i work with Jews people and

they religion is many different to catholic, i live in a country where the religion is a

fundamental right that the citizens have and United States is characterized by having

the widest religious expression in the world, in Colombia the Catholic religion do during

the year several events that congregate the faith of its parishioners for example Holy

Week is a time when Catholics profess faith to a God, i think that the religion is born of

the persons first in the world and in any religion there is a supreme being to whom they
thank and pray for mercy, the United States is characterized by having one of the

largest Jewish communities in the world, in this country we can often identify

celebrations linked to this religion and I have met some people Jews who have

explained to me how their religion develops, with that I grow as a person and to

understand different cultures, I think that is important know about religions since this

helps us to know different cultures to ours. I grew up in a community where most of the

members were Catholics, now that I migrate to the United States I realize that all

religions are equally important and that they celebrate important events for them, I think

that no matter what religion you belong or what beliefs you have, all people loking for a

supreme men and are happies based on their beliefs.

5. JOSE FERNANDO BUITRAGO

I'm going to prestent, my personal perspective about the influence of the religion and

beliefs in Colombia and the history of the mainkind.

Religion is one of the most complicated topics, that exist at the level of debate in the

world. At the present time, the problematic about the religions starts with defending our

own beliefs and the cultural heritage we have.

In a country like Colombia, the history of religion starts from the ancient indians, or

the power of the "Mother earth".The conquest originated a cultural change and also in

the traditions on the part of the Spaniards.

Althoug, Colombia is a country with a high percentage of catholics. The alternative

cults are derived from the same catholicism, have taken a great force in some sectors of
the populations. The religion in Colombia, has had representative and even a powerful

place in the politics. In Colombia we have a variety people in the country, where are

many ancient religious models are conserved, even a small part of population

conserves and lives that kind of beliefs.

In this country, there are a few part of the population, who believes in other religions

in a oriental tradition, like jews, arabs and even buddhists; but, the mayority have the

chirstianity, as a principal religion. At the present time, the people have no time for their

personal spirituality.The life style of the population in this moment,don't have time for

their own spirituality, the money, work, family and even the tecnology are part of the

primary needs of the people.

One of the most important problems in which religion, It´s about discussion and not

tolerence, respect for the beliefs of the other.In the beginning of the mankind, the

humans have differences about the spiritual beliefs.

The men have deffended their beliefs by risking, their own lives, by religious

interests and by supporting religions, that commit murders in the name of God. Many

injustices have been commited, with the lives of many peolple. free women thinkers,

scientist and people with a great intellectual capcity in his time, where in the name of

God have been erased from this world. The humans need a lot of tolerence, respect

and off course underestand the beliefs of others.

 It is true that it is important the spirituality and believes but technology will not affect

them if a person has a point to focus in. You have some mistakes in grammar, for

example, there is a small part of the population, and you said “there are a few part”.

CONCLUSION
This exercise shows us. That each person has different opinions and different ways to

see religions, but the most common is that people needs to believe in something

because that can make the life easier for everyone on the world. Religions makes the

people stay in a community
