Research Question: What effect does the implementation of guided reading have on students’

sight word recognition?

Interview Protocol:

Six students will be interviewed. The estimated length of the interviews is between 3-5 minutes,

depending on student’s ability to answer. Each interview will be conducted individually, while

the rest of the class works quietly on their Chromebooks.

Introduction: Hi _________! How are you today? Thanks for meeting with me today. I am

going to ask you a few questions about your feelings on reading and how we practice our sight

words. Your answers will help me change our lessons and make them more interesting for the

class.

Questions: (1) Tell me about the sight word activities that you like to complete. (practice as a

class, one on one, centers) (2) How do you feel when we practice our sight words together as a

class? (3) What do you think about completing a worksheet as a sight word activity? (4) What do

you think about using your Chromebook to practice your sight words?

End of Interview: Thank you for talking to me today! Your answers are going to help me make

our sight word and reading lessons more fun and interesting.
