PROJECTS
Graduate Experience Program - MSU Animal Science Fall 2018

A new course incorporating graduate student mentors and undergraduate student mentees. This program is designed to
provide graduate students teaching and mentoring skills. Undergraduate students completing the course will gain insight
into research, graduate student life, and the tools to apply for graduate school. Based on research interests, graduate
mentors will be paired with an undergraduate mentee, and together they will complete learning objectives for both a
graduate level mentoring course (1 credit hour) and an undergraduate experience course (2 credit hours). The course will
cover such items as: critically read and discuss scientific literature, evaluate graduate school programs and laboratories,
complete a graduate school application, and experience or discuss/demonstrate graduate life. Due to the limiting number of
graduate students, applications for undergraduate students will be accepted from now until August 1, 2018, and the course
is planned to launch in Fall 2018.
