Sunday, April 15, 2018 Third Sunday of Easter

A Peek At The Sunday Sermon

“All You Need Is Love” - a cute song from the 60’s. I was a young
soldier, just back from serving in Vietnam, when The Beatles
proclaimed that all we need (to solve the problems of the world) is
love. And I thought, “I wish it were that easy.”

A few years later I was called to full-time pastoral ministry and

learned that the love Jesus offers - is a love that really can solve all
the ills in today’s society. It’s a love that goes a little deeper.

To be fair, the Fab Four did clarify in their song that:

Nothing you can make that can't be made.

No one you can save that can't be saved.
Nothing you can do, but you can learn how to be you in time.
It’s easy.

Sunday’s sermon begins with of Our Savior: “I am giving you a

new commandment: Love each other.” And then we’ll explore
Scripture and learn that it’s possible if we apply God’s Word to our
being. Is it easy? Find out on Sunday!

See you on April 15th at 10:00 AM.

The liturgical color for Easter and for the next six Sunday’s
until Pentecost Sunday, is celebratory white. White
symbolizing purity, holiness, and virtue, as well as respect
and reverence. Our God is a Holy and Awesome God!

Our suggested Scripture reading for April 15, 2018, from the 2018 UCC
Church Calendar:
1 John 3:1-7 (NLT)
Living as Children of God
See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and
that is what we are!

But the people who belong to this world don’t recognize

that we are God’s children because they don’t know
him. 2 Dear friends, we are already God’s children, but
he has not yet shown us what we will be like when Christ
appears. But we do know that we will be like him, for we
will see him as he really is. 3 And all who have this eager
expectation will keep themselves pure, just as he is
pure.

4 Everyone who sins is breaking God’s law, for all sin is contrary to the law
of God.5 Andyou know that Jesus came to take away our sins, and there is
no sin in him.6 Anyone who continues to live in him will not sin. But anyone
who keeps on sinning does not know him or understand who he is. 7 Dear
children, don’t let anyone deceive you about this: When people do what is
right, it shows that they are righteous, even as Christ is righteous.
